Fifteen modern-day finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced Saturday, Jan. 7, and they are joined by two senior nominees. A selection committee in Indianapolis will meet in Indianapolis Feb. 4 to determine the 2012 Hall of Fame class. Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports veteran free agent CB Aeneas Williams (Rams) has not made a retirement announcement during the offseason and will consider returning to the NFL after an injury-riddled season with the St. Louis Rams in 2004. "I think he's keeping his options open, maybe for the right situation," Williams' agent Eugene Parker said. "I think he would consider (playing) He's in shape. He's just taking his time and keeping his options open. ... He's not quick to make decisions. He's pretty thoughtful." The Rams expressed no interest in re-signing Williams during the past offseason.

Kathleen Nelson, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams S Aeneas Williams (shoulder) has yet to inform the team of his future plans. He finished up the 2004 season on the injured reserve list with a shoulder injury. There is a chance that even if Williams wants to continue playing, he may not be able to pass the team's physical.

The Post-Dispatch reports the two-year contract signed by CB Aeneas Williams with the St. Louis Rams is worth $5 million, but it includes performance-based incentives that could raise the total value of the deal to $6.5 million. Williams gets a $1 million signing bonus, and base salaries of $2 million in both the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He is due a $1 million roster bonus if he makes the Pro Bowl next season, and a $500,000 bonus if he is named NFL defensive player of the year next season.
