Raiders.com reports the Oakland Raiders have placed S Reggie Tongue (knee) on their Injured Reserve list, ending his 2005 season.

Oakland Raiders SS Reggie Tongue (knee) tore his ACL during the Week 12 game and will miss the rest of the 2005 season. He will undergo surgery on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and should be placed on Injured Reserve this week. The safeties will be CB Renaldo Hill and FS Stuart Schweigert, with CB Stanford Routt possibly getting additional time in sets with extra defensive backs.

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports the release of S Reggie Tongue Wednesday, June 15, shows the New York Jets are comfortable with their current safety situation. Earlier speculation had Tongue being a cap casualty, but he restructured his deal and remained with the team through their minicamp and organized team activity practices. The team likes safeties Jon McGraw, Rashad Washington and Oliver Celestin. They also added safeties Kerry Rhodes and Andre' Maddox via the NFL Draft.
