Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports there have been 15 underclassmen quarterbacks selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since 1990, when underclassmen first became eligible to be drafted after being only three years removed from high school instead of four. Of those 15, only five have been selected to a Pro Bowl - QB Vince Young, QB Ben Roethlisberger, QB Michael Vick, QB Trent Dilfer and QB Drew Bledsoe.

ESPN.com reports retired QB Trent Dilfer has joined ESPN's lineup of NFL analysts. Dilfer will appear on several ESPN programs, including NFL Live, NFL PrimeTime, SportsCenter and Monday Night Countdown.

Lori Nickel, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports former NFL QB Trent Dilfer said Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers' future would not be affected if retired QB Brett Favre came back to play one more season. "No. There's no shelf life. Not if you handle it correctly," Dilfer said. "Which Aaron has done. In fact, I would say Aaron is the model for how you handle it. It's funny, the two guys that I have seen handle it the best have come from Green Bay."

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent QB Trent Dilfer (49ers) has announced his retirement from the NFL. Dilfer did sustain an Achilles' injury recently, but he said he was still planning on retiring.

Matt Maiocco, of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the San Francisco 49ers released QB Trent Dilfer Thursday, March 13. Dilfer was scheduled to receive a $500,000 roster bonus Saturday, March 15. The move saves the 49ers $1.5 million on the salary cap.

Matt Maiocco, of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the San Francisco 49ers expect QB Trent Dilfer to retire. Dilfer missed the last three games due to a concussion and was working with the NFL Network during the Senior Bowl and Super Bowl.
