Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports the Seattle Seahawks are not expecting to see OT Walter Jones at their upcoming minicamp. Although the team has not closed the book on Jones, they are operating under the assumption that he will not return next season. The Seahawks have acknowledged Jones is considering retirement, but were awaiting a firm, final conclusion from him.

Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said during a radio interview that OT Walter Jones (knee) is trying everything to rehab from knee surgery but is not sure if Jones will be able to come back. "I talked to Walter and he's doing everything he can and we'll see in time where he stands. But that's an issue. And there's a little bit of a ripple effect, moving guys around to fill that left tackle spot. It's a skill position in the NFL, and one that's really critical. So we have to see what we can do there," Carroll said.

When asked if there is a make-or-break date for the team and Jones to decide whether he'll play this season, head coach Jim Mora acknowledged there is a date, and that it is approaching, but he would not be specific. "There is a point where you just have to say, 'Is it going to happen, or isn't it?'" Mora said. "We're not there yet, but certainly we're closer to it. It's just a mater of getting a gauge for where Walt feels he is. And we're in the process of evaluating that."

"As a matter of fact, a couple of the coaches this morning commented on how upbeat Walter seems. People can say what they want, and speculate whatever they want, but I feel confident that he'll be ready to go here shortly. I'm not in his mind, I can just tell you what I see," Mora said.
