Greg Johns, of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, reports Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said the team will approach the 2010 NFL Draft as if OT Walter Jones is no longer part of the team.

Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports the Seattle Seahawks are not expecting to see OT Walter Jones at their upcoming minicamp. Although the team has not closed the book on Jones, they are operating under the assumption that he will not return next season. The Seahawks have acknowledged Jones is considering retirement, but were awaiting a firm, final conclusion from him.

Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said during a radio interview that OT Walter Jones (knee) is trying everything to rehab from knee surgery but is not sure if Jones will be able to come back. "I talked to Walter and he's doing everything he can and we'll see in time where he stands. But that's an issue. And there's a little bit of a ripple effect, moving guys around to fill that left tackle spot. It's a skill position in the NFL, and one that's really critical. So we have to see what we can do there," Carroll said.

Jones said, "They make that decision, then I'd have to weigh my other options. If it comes down to that, I have had a great career. And the reality is that if it's over, I can accept that."

Clare Farnsworth, of Seahawks.com, reports Seattle Seahawks OT Walter Jones (knee) said he hopes to be able to play in 2010. "I still want to play this game. I still have the love. I like the competition. I still want to go out there and compete with the guys. So that's my No. 1 goal right now, is to continue to keep doing what I've got to do to get back on the field for next year," Jones said.
