Vikings.com reports the Minnesota Vikings announced former Vikings DL John Randle will become the newest member of the Vikings Ring of Honor. He will be inducted during halftime Nov. 30.

Updating previous reports, Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports DE John Randle has retired from the NFL after 14 seasons. Randle, who finishes his career with 137.5 sacks, spent 11 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

Randle was schedule to make $5 million this season, $4 million of which in base salary. He received a $1 million roster bonus the first week in March, but he reduced his salary from $4 million to $2 million. He is currently in the third year of a five-year contract.

Updating an earlier story, Mike Sando reports for the Tacoma News Tribune Seattle Seahawks DE Lamar King (knee) actually underwent microfracture knee surgery in Colorado. Microfracture surgery entails drilling tiny holes in bone. The holes fill with blood, forming a buffer that prevents bone from rubbing against bone, thereby reducing pain and swelling. King's surgery is considered less serious than the procedure DT John Randle had last season and Randle needed nine months of recovery time.

The AP reports Seattle Seahawks DT John Randle (knee surgery) was at the team's mini-camp Tuesday, but of course he will not practice. He is off crutches now, but is still limping. As previously noted, he might not be able to take part in the Seahawks training camp from July 26-Aug. 22 and might also miss the team's four pre-season games. "The progress is going really well," Randle said. "You just have to take it a week at a time. You can't rush anything. I've got to take it slowly to see how it feels." Randle said he's not going to argue with Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren about returning to the field.

Seahawks.com reports DT John Randle had knee surgery and he is not expected back to return to the team until training camp, if not longer. When asked about it coach Mike Holmgren said, "He will be there for our first regular season game but how much he participates even in pre-season though, we are not going to mess around with that." When asked about the surgery Holmgren replied, "I don’t want to tell you something, I wouldn’t be able to explain it properly. But it was knee surgery and it had something to do with rejuvenating the bone, he had a little hole, it gets kind of complicated. They fixed it though and he should be fine."

Holmgren said it's an injury that could keep him out a number of days or a number of weeks. Regarding DT John Randle (knee), who played over the weekend on a limited basis, Holmgren said it was nice to have him back on the field. "He got some of the rust off," Holmgren said, while noting it wasn't Randle's best game of the season. Jim Cour reports for the Associated Press Seattle Seahawks DT John Randle was in pads Wednesday, but he did not practice. Randle sprained his left knee in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks loss to Washington last Sunday. He said he was unsure if he would be ready for Sunday night although he is listed as questionable. "I'm feeling pretty good right now," he said. "... I think in the next couple of days, I'll really be able to tell if I'll be able to play or not." If Randle can't play Sunday night, the Seahawks will go with DT Antonio Cochran. He has never started an NFL game.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren said DL John Randle (knee) was in better shape today following a knee injury on Sunday. Holmgren said he was fearful on Sunday that Randle may need to undergo some sort of surgery on his knee, but Holmgren doesn't think that's necessary now.
