The Free Press reports the NFL apparently will not rush to judgment on the case involving the Detroit Lions hiring of coach Steve Mariucci. They are looking at the team's failure to comply with league-imposed guidelines for interviewing minority candidates before hiring Mariucci. NFL executive vice president Joe Browne said Wednesday the NFL is continuing to gather information on the Lios situation and it appears unlikely it will be settled before the owners meeting starts Monday in Phoenix. Browne said the diversity issue is on the agenda all three days of the league meeting.

CNN/SI reports the Seattle Seahawks have signed RB Jay Graham and undrafted rookie free agents DT Joe Brown (Ohio State), FB Lloyd Garden (Cincinnati), WR Jerry Dorsey (Indiana), WR Kerwin Cook (Tulane) and LB LaDairis Jackson (Oregon State). Terms of the deals have not been disclosed.
