Ira Kaufman, of the Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Lamar King, a former first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks, is ready to prove his worth and fulfill his potential with the Buccaneers this season. "It's up to me to show everybody here what I'm capable of doing,'' said King. "I've got a little chip on my shoulder, but I'm very happy to be in Tampa, happy to be on a playoff contender with an opportunity to play alongside great players and for great coaches like (defensive line coach) Rod Marinelli.''

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the contract signed by Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Lamar King is a one-year deal worth $560,000. The deal also includes a $25,000 signing bonus.

Updating an earlier story, Mike Sando reports for the Tacoma News Tribune Seattle Seahawks DE Lamar King (knee) actually underwent microfracture knee surgery in Colorado. Microfracture surgery entails drilling tiny holes in bone. The holes fill with blood, forming a buffer that prevents bone from rubbing against bone, thereby reducing pain and swelling. King's surgery is considered less serious than the procedure DT John Randle had last season and Randle needed nine months of recovery time.

The Post Intellingencer reports Seattle Seahawks DE Lamar King (knee) will miss the rest of the season to have left knee surgery. He flew to Colorado yesterday for the surgery to correct what coach Mike Holmgren said was a lingering knee injury. Rookie DE Anton Palepoi will start in his place.
