Microfracture surgery entails drilling tiny holes in bone. The holes fill with blood, forming a buffer that prevents bone from rubbing against bone, thereby reducing pain and swelling. King's surgery is considered less serious than the procedure DT John Randle had last season and Randle needed nine months of recovery time.
