Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek struggled with dropped passes Tuesday, Aug. 4. Celek oddly participated in the after-practice JUGS session, which is usually reserved for younger players.
Fantasy Tip: Celek has far less upside than third-year TE Zach Ertz entering the 2015 season. Celek is considered as the superior blocker, but Ertz talent in the passing game can't be ignored forever.
Fri, 19 Dec 2014 11:13:55 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (neck) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 19, and is listed as probable for Week 16.
Fantasy Tip: Celek has not been a big factor in the team's passing game over the past month but is facing a Washington Redskins defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends over the last four games. Celek only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore and could be a cheap option for owners looking to save some money at the position.
Wed, 17 Dec 2014 12:41:07 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (neck) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Fantasy Tip: Celek will cost $3,000 in FantasyScore this week, and is not a terrible sleeper option for your roster, especially if you are looking to load up at other positions.
Thu, 20 Nov 2014 18:19:16 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has played 143 fewer snaps than TE Brent Celek this season, and when asked why Ertz wasn't playing as much, head coach Chip Kelly pointed to Celek's superior skills as a run blocker.
Fantasy Tip: While Ertz has the physical tools to be an effective weapon in the passing game, he can't be trusted at FantasyScore as long as he is playing limited snaps.
Fri, 14 Nov 2014 09:47:14 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 14, and is probable for Week 11.
Fantasy Tip: Celek has developed some nice chemistry with Mark Sanchez, and could be a nice option in FantasyScore with a price of $3,000 (6% of cap).
Thu, 13 Nov 2014 11:58:49 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 13.
Fantasy Tip: Celek will play in Week 11, and is forming some nice chemistry with Mark Sanchez. He shoul be considered in FantasyScore this week with a price of $3,000 (6% of cap).
Wed, 12 Nov 2014 10:15:12 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Fantasy Tip: Celek will likely be good to go in Week 11, seems to be developing some good chemistry with Mark Sanchez. Celek is worth considering in FantasyScore with a price of $3,000 (6% of cap), especially if you are looking to load up at other positions.
Tue, 11 Nov 2014 09:24:27 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz continued to see his role shrink in Week 10 versus the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10, as head coach Chip Kelly seems more comfortable with TE Brent Celek because of his blocking skills. Ertz must work on his blocking moving forward.
Fantasy Tip: Ertz has had just one catch in each of the last two games. On the flip side, Celek has seven catches in the last two weeks, including five grabs (six targets) for 116 yards last night. Ertz isn't a TE1 right now, and you should avoid him at FantasyScore moving forward.
Mon, 03 Nov 2014 06:43:09 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz played just 24 snaps in Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 2, because the team used a lot of three-receiver sets. TE Brent Celek played 64 snaps to block.
Fantasy Tip: Ertz still has upside, but it's pretty clear he's the fifth or sixth option in the coaches' point of view. He could be a weak TE1 on FantasyScore next week at best.
Fri, 31 Oct 2014 09:28:42 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles S Nate Allen (hamstring) and WR Brad Smith (groin) are questionable for Week 9 against the Houston Texans. CB Brandon Boykin (hamstring), TE Brent Celek (back), OG Todd Herremans (biceps), C Jason Kelce (hernia), LB Mychal Kendricks (calf), WR Jeff Maehl (foot), LB DeMeco Ryans (groin) and CB Jaylen Watkins (wrist) are probable. All players practiced in full Friday, Oct. 31.
Thu, 30 Oct 2014 11:46:43 -0700

CB Brandon Boykin (hamstring), G Todd Herremans (biceps), C Jason Kelce (hernia), LB Mychal Kendricks (calf), WR Jeff Maehl (foot), LB DeMeco Ryans (groin) and CB Jaylen Watkins (wrist) all fully participated in practice.
Tue, 08 Jul 2014 17:14:43 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek will likely spend more time blocking than running routes this year, according to Marcus Hayes of Philly.com. With OT Dennis Kelly (back) working his way back from an injury and OT Lane Johnson being suspended the first four games, Celek is more valuable to the team as a blocker.
Fantasy Tip: While Celek's blocking ability is an asset for the Eagles, it doesn't help his fantasy value one bit. In fact, Celek's heavy blocking responsibilities make Zach Ertz the Eagles' tight end to target in fantasy leagues.
Thu, 13 Mar 2014 19:33:20 -0700
The Philadelphia Eagles could consider releasing TE James Casey if they want to keep four running backs and five wide receivers on the roster next season. The Eagles would only keep TEs Brent Celek and Zach Ertz in that scenario.
Sat, 25 Jan 2014 18:11:08 -0800
The Philadelphia Eagles like TEs James Casey, Brent Celek and Zach Ertz, and just because Casey and Celek will get raises in salary to $4 million in 2014, it doesn't mean they won't be back.
Fri, 13 Dec 2013 00:37:52 -0800
With just 25 catches and 348 receiving yards, Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek is on a 31-catch, 428-yard pace. Both numbers would be the lowest since his second year in the league in 2008. However, Celek is being used more as a blocking TE this year in the Eagles' No. 1 run offense.
Fri, 06 Dec 2013 23:40:15 -0800
In the Arizona Cardinals' five losses, opposing tight ends have caught 11 touchdown passes, and in last week's loss at the Philadelphia Eagles, all three of the Eagles' touchdowns were scored by TEs Zach Ertz and Brent Celek.
Fri, 15 Nov 2013 09:31:08 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (hip) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 15, and is probable for Week 11.
Fantasy Tip: With Zach Ertz becoming more of a factor in the offense, Celek's stock has dropped to a level where he's not even worthy to be on most rosters. He should be on your bench or on the waiver wire.
Thu, 14 Nov 2013 11:56:43 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks (knee), LB Jake Knott (hamstring), T Jason Peters (quadricep, pectoral) and S Earl Wolff (knee) all did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 14. TE Brent Celek (hip) and CB Bradley Fletcher (pectoral) were limited in practice. S Patrick Chung (shoulder), WR Riley Cooper (knee) and DE Cedric Thornton (knee) all fully practiced.
Wed, 13 Nov 2013 11:27:09 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Sun, 03 Nov 2013 18:10:20 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz posted five grabs for 42 yards and a score in Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders, and TE Brent Celek had three receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy Tip: Neither is particularly useful from a fantasy perspective, although each could safely be used as a short-term fantasy option or one-week bye replacement.
Tue, 15 Oct 2013 13:58:48 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek had a 12 percent decrease in his offensive snaps in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it was attributed to the hot conditions in Tampa during the game. "We knew that going in," head coach Chip Kelly said. "We were going to try to play a lot more guys in those situations."
Fantasy Tip: Celek remains the primary tight end in Philly, but Zach Ertz is now listed as a co-starter, so you have to wonder if he'll start cutting into Celek's workload.
Tue, 15 Oct 2013 09:29:54 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz is now listed as a co-starter with TE Brent Celek.
Sat, 28 Sep 2013 08:14:29 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has played in only 51 of the team's 205 offensive snaps this season but understands he needs to wait his turn. Head coach Chip Kelly said TE Brent Celek has not done anything to lose his starting job at this time.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (shoulder) practiced in full Monday, Sept. 16.
Tue, 10 Sep 2013 09:45:53 -0700
The Philadelphia Eagles' offense was efficient and quick in their Week 1 victory over the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 9; they ran a play every 22.4 seconds and 53 in the entire game. RB LeSean McCoy had big holes to run through, and WRs DeSean Jackson and Jason Avant and TE Brent Celek were wide open most of the time down the field. QB Michael Vick was very successful running the read-option. However, the Eagles players looked fatigued late in the game, often coming off the field for breathers. Jackson didn't catch any passes in the second half. "The tempo really worked," McCoy said. "I don't think anyone has seen it that fast. We've got to learn. We're learning as the thing goes. Coach Chip Kelly is a great coach. Today is the first time a lot of the guys in the locker room had fun. We couldn't wait to get back out there and have fun."
Fantasy Tip: Philly's offense was downright impressive in the first half. The up-tempo attack should continue to create mismatches in opposing defenses, but as we saw in the second half, is this something that Philadelphia will be able to sustain over a full season? Probably not, but for the time being, it makes all of the Iggles' offensive weapons much more attractive.
Mon, 09 Sep 2013 21:29:53 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek managed two receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game Monday, Sept. 9, against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted three times.
Fantasy Tip: Celek was expected to be more of a blocker with Zach Ertz and James Casey seeing more targets, but that's not how it shook down in Week 1. Still, don't get too excited, as Celek is still Top 25 at his position at best as far as fantasy value is concerned.
Wed, 28 Aug 2013 06:11:50 -0700
The Philadelphia Eagles have run 225 plays in their first three preseason games, which is an average of 75 per game. That is more than any team in the league. TE Brent Celek has seven catches thus far, which is the most he has had in the preseason since 2007. In head coach Chip Kelly's offense, tight ends are seldom asked to pass protect. He figures to be a big cog in the offense.
Fantasy Tip: Celek has had some health issues over the years, but if the O-line can protect Michael Vick, Celek could be a nice TE2 sleeper.
Wed, 14 Aug 2013 14:05:59 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek played in all 21 snaps with the first-team offense in the team's first preseason game, and he was used everywhere on the field and either blocked or ran passing routes. Celek started eight plays lined up as a halfback and four times lined up as a traditional tight end. He also was lined up four times in the slot, three times split out wide and twice in the backfield to the left of the quarterback in shotgun. "In this offense, you've got to know every position, and they can just interchange you anywhere," Celek said. "And it's fun. It's a new experience. You get to do different things. Guys like it." He stayed in to block on 11 plays.
TE James Casey didn't see a single snap with the first-team offense. TE Zach Ertz should see plenty of time, too, but his development as a blocker should keep Celek as the No. 1 tight end on the team. Ertz, who didn't run block much in college, will be asked to do plenty of that in the pros. Ertz blocked out of his formations and struggled in the preseason game. The three times there was a two-tight end set, Ertz was lined up in the slot with Celek either in-line or in the backfield. Celek, Ertz and Casey have lined up in three-tight end formations at times in practice, but it's unlikely the team will use many of those formations during the season.
Fantasy Tip: Celek and Ertz are really the only two tight ends that should be considered in fantasy circles. How Kelly uses them both will likely vary, and Ertz's struggles as a blocker might help him as a receiver if Chip Kelly decides to use Celek for blocking more. Regardless, they could be interchangeable and figure to give fantasy owners relying on them headaches on a weekly basis.
Tue, 06 Aug 2013 09:18:52 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TEs James Casey and Brent Celek are each listed as starting tight ends on the team's initial preseason depth chart released Monday, Aug. 5.
Fantasy Tip: For fantasy purposes, Casey is viewed as the bigger receiving threat, while Celek is expected to take on more of a blocking role.
Sat, 27 Jul 2013 14:32:09 -0700
The Philadelphia Eagles confirmed reports that WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Fantasy Tip: This will effectively end Maclin's season. Riley Cooper reportedly stepped into his place during practice but probably isn't a better fantasy option than Arrelious Benn (knee) and Jason Avant if all three are healthy. The tight ends could see more targets, but the mix remains complicated with Brent Celek, Zach Ertz and Clay Harbor, and it could be a fantasy mess. This also removes a weapon from either Nick Foles or Michael Vick.
Tue, 23 Jul 2013 09:29:33 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek is considered a blocking tight end in the new offensive system installed by head coach Chip Kelly, while FB/TE James Casey and TE Zach Ertz are considered primarily receivers.
Fantasy Tip: The team has plenty of depth at the position, and might use three-TE alignments at some points. For fantasy purposes, Celek will no longer be that dependable guy you go to off the waiver wire. It appears his production will be down. Casey might be the best bet, with Ertz the second option. Clay Harbor is also in the mix for a role.
Thu, 23 May 2013 09:44:01 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz, the team's second-round draft pick, is unable to participate in organized team activities because of NFL rules until he graduates from college at Stanford.
Fantasy Tip: OTAs are voluntary, but Ertz would have some valuable time in new head coach Chip Kelly's system, which figures to feature plenty of two-tight end sets. Brent Celek will be the main tight end at Michael Vick's disposal, so Ertz doesn't figure to get enough looks to be worth a draft pick.
Fri, 17 May 2013 13:24:03 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly indicated TEs Brent Celek, Zach Ertz and James Casey are expected to receive playing time during games this season.
Fantasy Tip: Even though they are all expected to see playing time, none are considered No. 1 fantasy tight ends. Celek could be worth a late-round flier that can be a No. 2 tight end because of his chemistry with QB Michael Vick. Casey should get a decent amount of receptions this season but should be taken in only very deep leagues. Casey could be a waiver wire option early in the season. Ertz is not expected to have a lot of fantasy value this season.
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 11:47:11 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly may keep four or five tight ends on the roster next season so he could use them in his spread offense. TE Brent Celek will be on the roster and TE Clay Harbor is expected to compete for playing time, but Kelly will be looking for a tight end that can stretch the field. The Eagles could consider drafting a tight end at some point after the first round.
Thu, 31 Jan 2013 12:03:15 -0800
The Philadelphia Eagles came away from the Senior Bowl last week impressed with Rice TE Vance McDonald, and the team is expected to address the tight end position in the draft this year. Cincinnati TE Travis Kelce, the brother of C Jason Kelce, could be another target in the draft. TE Clay Harbor hasn't cut it and TE Brent Celek has contributed, but the team is ready to bring in a complement or replacement.

Thu, 20 Dec 2012 11:47:24 -0800

Tue, 11 Dec 2012 10:47:33 -0800

Mon, 10 Dec 2012 13:19:09 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (concussion) will miss Week 15 because of the concussion he suffered in Week 14.
Fantasy Tip: Clay Harbor likely will receive the bulk of the playing time with Celek out, but owners likely can find better options on the waiver wire for a Celek replacement. Harbor could be an option in deeper leagues if an owner is desperate for a tight end.
Mon, 10 Dec 2012 05:23:03 -0800
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (concussion) appears likely to miss the team's Week 15 game with a concussion. Celek will have to advance through the team's five-step concussion recovery program, which includes staying symptom-free, passing an imPACT test and be cleared by an independent neurologist, before he can get back on the field. The team has a short turnaround, with their next game Thursday, Dec. 13.
