Eagles | Brent Celek leaning toward retirement?

Mon, 12 Feb 2018 18:17:51 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek has played 11 NFL seasons, and "there is a thinking that he will retire" this offseason, according to the Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski.

Fantasy Tip: Celek has spent his entire career in Philadelphia, but with Zach Ertz emerging as the top tight end and the Eagles winning it all this season, it's reasonable to believe the 33-year-old may be ready to call it a career. Regardless of whether he returns or not, Celek is no longer on the fantasy radar.

Eagles | Eagles expected to keep Brent Celek

Fri, 17 Feb 2017 13:18:59 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek is likely to remain with the team going into the 2017 season. The Eagles like his contributions on the field and around the facility, plus his durability. He'll count $5 million against the cap, but Philadelphia would only save $1 million by releasing him.

Fantasy Tip: Celek's best days are far behind him, as the 32-year-old is coming off a campaign in which he registered the fewest receptions (14) and receiving yards (155 yards) of his 10-year career. Oh, and it was also his first season without scoring a single touchdown. Celek would need an injury or two above him on the depth chart to even merit consideration for a roster spot.

Tue, 03 Jan 2017 06:26:39 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek said he expects to remain with the Eagles in 2017. His cap number is $5 million, and he would cost the team $4 million in dead cap space if he's released. Celek said he's fine with taking fewer snaps in favor of TEs Zach Ertz and Trey Burton.
