Associated Press reports the San Diego Chargers have signed WR Patrick Batteaux from their practice squad to their active roster. He'll serve as the team's fourth receiver this weekend.

The AP reports the San Diego Chargers have signed WR Patrick Batteaux from the practice squad to the regular roster. Batteaux will be the fourth receiver this weekend and Trevor Gaylor moves up to No. 3 because Tim Dwight is out because of a collapsed lung.

Chargers.com reports San Diego Chargers WRs Jeff Graham, Curtis Conway and Tim Dwight have the top three slots at receiver locked up entering the regular season. Behind them, the battle is much tougher. Reggie Jones appears to be the front-runner for the fourth receiver slot, but WRs Trevor Gaylor, Rodney Williams, Patrick Batteaux and Nate Turner are all in the mix as well. Head coach Mike Riley described the battle as close.

Bernie Wilson reports for the Associated Press San Diego Chargers backup QB Dave Dickenson hit rookie DeRonnie Pitts with a 3-yard TD pass with 39 seconds left, then hit Patrick Batteaux with the 2-point conversion pass to give the Chargers a win on Saturday night. Starting QB Doug Flutie threw a 7-yard pass to WR Curtis Conway. RB Ronney Jenkins scored on a 29-yard run. For the 49ers starting QB Jeff Garcia threw a 16-yard TD pass to rookie WR Cedrick Wilson. RB Terry Jackson had 12-yard run for a TD and WR Dwight Carter had a TD catch. RB Garrison Hearst started and finished with 9 yards on 5 carries. He caught one pass for 15 yards.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports San Diego Chargers rookie FB Terry Witherspoon stayed after practice on Sunday to work on pass-catching drills. Witherspoon had a difficult time holding onto the football during the weekend's drills and dropped at least four passes on Saturday. WR Patrick Batteaux stood out to the coaching staff. The former practice squad player made some highlight catches over the weekend and head coach Mike Riley thought that he really stood out.

According to their official site, the Dallas Cowboys will take a look at seven street free agents on Tuesday. They are: QB Leon Murray (Redskins training camp 2000), DE Jessie Warren (Titans training camp 2000), WR Marcus Stiggers (Redskins training camp 2000), RB Basil Mitchell (formerly with Green Bay), DT Bryant Shaw (Cowboys camp 2000), WR Bashir Yamini (Titans practice squad 2000) and WR Patrick Batteaux (Chargers practice squad). Also, TE Johnny Huggins who was in camp with Dallas last season wants to re-sign with Dallas and play in NFL Europe.
