Jim Trotter, of the San Diego Union Tribune, reports for the Sporting News that the San Diego Chargers No. 3 receiver job could be WR Trevor Gaylor’s to lose. Gaylor had 10 catches for 162 yards in the Chargers’ final two games last season and needs to continue playing well. If he doesn’t, rookie Reche Caldwell is expected to step into the No. 3 role behind starters Curtis Conway and Tim Dwight.

Behind them, the battle is much tougher. Reggie Jones appears to be the front-runner for the fourth receiver slot, but WRs Trevor Gaylor, Rodney Williams, Patrick Batteaux and Nate Turner are all in the mix as well. Head coach Mike Riley described the battle as close.

Brees started slowly but came out throwing in the second half. He finished the day completing 15-of-24 attempts for 194 yards; including a 28-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Gaylor.

The North County Times reports San Diego Chargers OL Kevin Gogan (knee) will undergo arthroscopic surgery and is out for the remainder of the season. DeMingo Graham will replace him in the starting lineup. The San Diego Union Tribune reports WR Jeff Graham (lip), RB Terrell Fletcher (rib) and LB Gerald Dixon (calf) all missed Wednesday's practice. Fletcher is expected to start again this weekend. The team will likely replace Graham with Trevor Gaylor and Reggie Jones will be the No. 3 receiver.
