Trans World News reports former NFL WR Curtis Conway and his wife, Laila Ali, are expecting their first child. Ali, the daughter of former boxer Muhammad Ali, confirmed her pregnancy to Essence magazine. Conway and Ali were married last July in front of 200 guests. This will be Conway's fourth child and Ali's first. Conway has twin sons and a daughter from a previous relationship.

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports since RB Walter Payton retired in 1987 only four Chicago Bears' players have scored 10 or more touchdowns in a season. RB Neal Anderson accomplished the feat four times (12 in 1988, 15 in '89, 13 in '90 and 11 in '92) and WR Curtis Conway (12 in '95), RB Rashaan Salaam (10 in '95) and RB Raymont Harris (10 in '97) each did it once.

Associated Press reports San Francisco 49ers general manager Terry Donahue said the addition of WR Curtis Conway "brings a lot of experience" to the 49ers. Conway has 556 receptions, 7,827 yards and 49 TDs during his 11-year career to go along with three 1,000-yard receiving seasons. "He has been a successful starter in the league," coach Dennis Erickson said. "Curtis will help us on and off the field, as a player and as a mentor to our young receivers."

There is no guarantee Lockett will see playing time, however, since the team has WRs Curtis Conway, Santana Moss, and Kevin Swayne available and the team rarely utilizes a four-wide receiver set.

Edwards added that it's just a protective measure and it was his call not to let him participate. He said Conway asked him if he was in trouble when he was being held out and Edwards told him, "I said you can't play today."

New York Jets offensive coordinator Paul Hackett is planning on using three wide receiver sets often in 2003, according to NewYorkJets.com. The team wants to utilize WR Curtis Conway, WR Wayne Chrebet and WR Santana Moss. "We are going to use all three of the receivers, we are going to rotate them," Hackett said. Butler replied, "Iíll tell you, we were going year by year by year with Curtis to see how things were going. Heís going into the last year of (his contract). Letís just say that we offered him an excellent amount of money in my opinion for one year, which was ($1.9 million), with a chance to go to $3 million with incentives.
