The Cleveland Browns have waived WR Jake Allen, OL Casey Bender, CB Coye Francies, TE Joel Gamble, OT Joel Reinders and WR Syndric Steptoe, according to Tony Grossi, of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

ESPN.com reports Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini disputed claims made by the agent for WR Syndric Steptoe (labrum), who said Steptoe's season-ending injury was caused due to poor practice conditions. Mangini, who reportedly cut short a practice Saturday, Aug. 8, because of inclement weather, said the injury Steptoe sustained wasn't a result of field conditions or the nature of the drills. "Seventy-nine other guys were able to practice effectively," Mangini said. "And really the play that he was injured on didn't have anything to do with the elements."

Scott Petrak, of the Medina Gazette, reports Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth (quad) sustained a quadriceps injury during Week 1 pregame warmups and did not play. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday, Sept. 8, and an update on his status for Week 2 is expected Wednesday, Sept. 10. WR Syndric Steptoe and WR Steve Sanders were pushed into action Week 1 in place of Stallworth.
