The Detroit Lions worked out several wide receivers Tuesday, Oct. 23, and could sign one this week. Free-agent WRs Legedu Naanee (Dolphins), Brian Robiskie (Jaguars) and Deon Butler (Seahawks) were among the receivers that took part in the workout.

The Miami Dolphins signed WR Jabar Gaffney (Patriots) and released WR Legedu Naanee and DL Andre Fluellen Tuesday, Oct. 2. The team also waived/injured LB Mike Rivera.

Miami Dolphins WR Legedu Naanee is not pressing, and said he is focused on doing what is asked of him. "I'm trying to make the plays that come to me and that one came to me and I didn't finish it right," Naanee said. "That's really all I'm concerned with, finishing right, contributing to the team. I'm not focused on anything else."

Miami Dolphins WRs Marlon Moore and Legedu Naanee got the starts at wide receiver in the preseason finale Wednesday, Aug. 29, against the Dallas Cowboys. Neither did much to distinguish themselves, as they each posted two receptions for 19 yards. Only two receivers, WRs Davone Bess and Brian Hartline, are believed to be locks for the final roster.

Miami Dolphins WR Legedu Naanee has rocketed to the top of the team's depth chart after a solid start to training camp. Naanee is projected to start in the team's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (calf) could be in jeopardy of earning a roster spot if he does not begin practicing soon. Head coach Joe Philbin is on record as saying he doesn't owe the returning veterans anything but a chance to compete for a roster spot. WRs Chad Johnson and Legedu Naanee were also impressive during the team's weekend scrimmage and could be pushing Hartline for jobs.
