"He's a very talented running back and he's from Virginia. Two Virginia guys in this running back corps is going to be dangerous. I expect to use him as my project to get him better, to get him smarter and just to mature him a little bit, just to help him understand the NFL," Bradshaw said.

He had bone marrow taken from his hip and injected into his foot to help it heal faster. Normal recovery time is three months, but he expects to be full go in training camp. "I probably can (run now) but I am not going to try for two or three months more," Bradshaw added. "I just want to rest as much as I can. By the time training camp comes, I want to practice every week and start the season off right." Bradshaw is looking forward to having more carries in 2012 with Brandon Jacobs out of the picture.

The team is now likely to have to draft a running back, or sign a cheap option via free agency.

"In the back of my mind, always, was the touchdown," Coughlin said. "I didn't care how much time we had left ... the thought about the touchdown was always there." Manning added, "It's a tough situation as you're thinking about what to do. I think you have to score a touchdown. I have great confidence in (kicker) Lawrence Tynes, but you just don't want to leave anything to chance. We could have kneeled it and run out the clock. But if something flukey happens and we miss that field goal, you feel terrible."

He also had two receptions for 19 yards. Bradshaw had a fumble during the game, but it was recovered by the Giants. On his touchdown, with about a minute left to play in the game, the Patriots allowed him to get into the end zone to preserve time on the clock. Bradshaw tried to slow himself down, but ended up going into the end zone backwards for the game-winning touchdown.

Teammates have raved about his ability to chip defenders while blocking. The Giants are not able to replace Bradshaw as a runner or receiver, as he has been the team's most effective short-yardage back and has the ability to stretch defenses from sideline to sideline in ways that RBs Brandon Jacobs and Danny Ware cannot. Even with his broken foot, he is the team's most reliable option in pass protection. Bradshaw has also improved in his ability to break off routes when he sees an opening, much like a traditional slot receiver would do. He'll now often throw a quick block before sliding into an unguarded part of the field as a check-down option for QB Eli Manning.
