Mon, 06 Feb 2012 09:01:59 -0800 New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and QB Eli Manning said Monday, Feb. 6, that RB Ahmad Bradshaw scoring the late game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLVI was the right thing to do in that situation. "In the back of my mind, always, was the touchdown," Coughlin said. "I didn't care how much time we had left ... the thought about the touchdown was always there." Manning added, "It's a tough situation as you're thinking about what to do. I think you have to score a touchdown. I have great confidence in (kicker) Lawrence Tynes, but you just don't want to leave anything to chance. We could have kneeled it and run out the clock. But if something flukey happens and we miss that field goal, you feel terrible."

"I tried (to stop)," Bradshaw explained, "but my momentum just took me in. All I could do after that was hope that they wouldn't score."

He also had two receptions for 19 yards. Bradshaw had a fumble during the game, but it was recovered by the Giants. On his touchdown, with about a minute left to play in the game, the Patriots allowed him to get into the end zone to preserve time on the clock. Bradshaw tried to slow himself down, but ended up going into the end zone backwards for the game-winning touchdown.

He had been resting the first two days of practice followed by a practice on Fridays. However, the extra time off has helped him feel good enough to get out there.
