Cowboys | Pushing For 1,000 Yards

The Star-Telegram reports Dallas Cowboys coach Dave Campo said he will continue to emphasize the running game in the team's last two games as RB Emmitt Smith bids to get 1,000 rushing yards for the season. "The last two games will be based around our running game," Campo said. "He (Smith) will have a chance to get the football." Campo said the Cowboys are not doing anything special for Smith. They are just sticking to the same game plan they've used since QB Quincy Carter returned to the lineup four games ago. Rookie FB Terry Witherspoon is expected to see a lot of action blocking for Smith. Campo said Witherspoon played a big role in the success of the running game in the second half last Sunday.

Dallas Cowboys.com reports the team has placed DE Ebenezer Ekuban (back) on injured reserve. As expected, the team signed rookie FB Terry Witherspoon off the practice squad to the regular roster. "We're going to start Troy Hambrick at fullback," head coach Dave Campo said. "But (Witherspoon) will play and he'll play in there with Emmitt."

Gerry Fraley reports for the Dallas Morning News that the Dallas Cowboys, concerned with the blocking from the fullback position, are considering bringing up FB Terry Witherspoon from the practice squad to the active roster. RB/FB Troy Hambrick, who sees time at both tailback and fullback, missed several key blocks over the weekend.
