In not doing so, the Bears killed the deal and caused Baltimore's 10-minute time limit to expire for the 26th overall pick. The Kansas City Chiefs then jumped in and made its pick, knocking the Ravens to draft 27th overall.

Angelo added, "Disappointment is too much an often-used word when we're talking about Cedric." According to police in Austin, Texas, Benson was pulled over Saturday, June 7, for running a red light, and he refused to take a Breathalyzer or provide blood samples. He was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test. Angelo said he was disappointed Benson put himself in a similar situation so soon after getting arrested 35 days ago and being charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest. Angelo added, "It doesn't weigh well. It's unfortunate and we will deal with it once we know everything. I am very surprised that he put himself in this situation after our last visit."

Previous reports have claimed a handful of teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, were showing interest in Briggs. "I haven't had anyone call me personally outside of Washington about Lance. I've not heard anything official from anybody. We had our talks with Washington. I haven't talked to Washington in a while. Those are rumors and I really can't speculate on rumors," Angelo said.
