Updating a previous report, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Dallas Cowboys DL Leonardo Carson (knee) will not be making the trip with the team for the preseason opener against the Houston Texans Saturday, Aug. 14, due to a knee injury. DL Jermaine Brooks will replace Carson in the lineup. Carson's knee injury "is not something that requires surgery, but it does require management right now," coach Bill Parcells said.

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys DT Leonardo Carson (knee), who served eight days of a 30-day sentence in an Alabama jail last month after pleading guilty to trespassing and unlawful imprisonment, is working out at the Cowboys' team headquarters. Acting on a request from Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells, Carson's agent, Johnny Brutkiewicz, lobbied a circuit court judge to allow his client to return to Dallas so he could continue his rehabilitation from offseason knee surgery in preparation for the start of training camp. Brutkiewicz said the judge never stipulated that Carson do all of his time at one time and that he could possibly complete his jail stint after the season.

Dallas Cowboys DT Leonardo Carson, who faced felony charges of kidnapping and burglary from an incident occurring last August, has pled guilty to lesser charges, according to Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com. This resulted in two consecutive one-year sentences which were suspended by the judge, who has instead ordered him to serve 30 days in Mobile (Ala.) County Metro Jail, and two years of probation. Carson began serving the jail sentence on Monday, June 14, and is expected to return to the team in time for the beginning of training camp on Thursday, July 29.

Carson was a key member of the Cowboys' tackle rotation this season after signing Oct. 18. He was placed on injured reserve for the final two games after tearing a triceps muscle in his arm.

WPMI-TV in Mobile, Ala., reports San Diego Chargers DT Leonardo Carson was arrested in Mobile on Thursday, Aug. 21 and charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping. Chargers spokesman Bill Johnston told NBC 7/39 that Carson had been excused from the team's workout Thursday to attend funeral services for his grandmother.

Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers DT Leonardo Carson was arrested Monday for harassment and menacing. Carson allegedly pulled a gun in a car repair shop. Mobile, Alabama police Sgt. John Goodwin said an employee at the shop accused Carson of pushing him against a wall and threatening him with a gun last Wednesday. Goodwin said there were several witnesses. Carson was released on a $1,000 bond.

Chargers.com reports the San Diego Chargers plan to start DT Leonardo Carson in place of the injured Jamal Williams (ACL). As previously reported, Williams is out for the year. Coach Mike Riley said that the Chargers are hoping to decide what they will do with Williams’ roster spot before the team takes the field for practice on Wednesday. They could sign a free agent or move a player up from the practice squad or stay pat. "We’ll look at some possibilities, but it might be in our best interests to play with the people we have right now," said Riley.
