Ravens | Believe Terrell Suggs can play in 2012

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said it is his understanding that LB Terrell Suggs (Achilles') has a chance to play at some point during the 2012 season. He said a four- to six-month rehab for this injury is consistent with what the team doctors have told him.

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh offered no timetable on the return of LB Terrell Suggs (Achilles'), but he stressed the team won't dwell on his loss. "He will be okay, Terrell Suggs will be fine. He will be back," Harbaugh said. "He will go to work on that rehab like no other. He will continue to be a huge part of what we are doing, continue to be a leader and then the young guys will step up. They will step forward, and you are a football team first, you are a team, team is not one guy."

Updating a previous item, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh called New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to explain comments he made about the team's championships being stained. Harbaugh released the following statement through the Ravens. "While on the 98 Rock show this morning to talk about the run to honor O.J. Brigance and raise funds for ALS research, I answered a question about playing within the rules and referred to the perception that the Super Bowl championships won by the Patriots and Saints have a stain. My reference was to the perception out there that came as the result of the league's actions. I could have been more clear that I was referring to those viewpoints. I totally believe that the Patriot and Saint coaches and players earned those championships. Bill (Belichick) and Sean (Payton) both know that. There has been some distortion about what I said ..."

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said the team will make a hefty contract offer in order to re-sign impending free-agent OG Ben Grubbs. The Ravens are currently in negotiations with Grubbs. "We're in negotiations of offering a lot of money. We would like for Ben and (right guard) Marshall (Yanda) to be the two anchors of our offensive line going forward," Harbaugh said. "Two guards who are as good as any guards in the league, and we'd like to pay Ben as such."

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, who will be squaring off with his brother and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh in Week 12, said he appreciates being part of a special first featuring siblings on opposite sidelines as head coaches. However, Jim Harbaugh believes his team got the short end of the straw for having to travel cross-country on a short week. "I definitely think it was very considerate of the NFL to reunite the brothers on Thanksgiving. I think that's going to be very difficult for our team," Harbaugh said. "There's no question that we drew the short end of the straw on this one."

After recording just 27 sacks last season, the Baltimore Ravens are expected to be more aggressive in 2011, according to Aaron Wilson, of NationalFootballPost.com. The unit often rushed just three or four players last season and did little blitzing. "You can make an argument that we rushed three a little more last year than we had in the past and we will in the future, in all honesty," head coach John Harbaugh said. "I don't think by any stretch is going to be a foundation of our defense. That's not what we're built on. That's not what we're about."
