Ravens | Baltimore confident in Steve Smith

Sat, 10 Sep 2016 09:52:02 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith is still a "great player" in the mind of head coach John Harbaugh, who suggested there is "no reason" why he will not play "great" against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Harbaugh may be confident in his 37-year-old receiver, but that doesn't mean fantasy owners should be. Smith did not play a single preseason snap after tearing his Achilles' midway through last season, so it would be a major upset if he had a huge game at any point early this season. Owners need to treat him as something of a high-risk WR4 at best until he actually puts something on tape post-injury. Mike Wallace and Kamar Aiken should be the top Baltimore receivers in 2016.

Ravens | Baltimore in better shape offensively

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 10:36:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he believes the offense is in better shape than it was last year because it will be the second year under offensive coordinator Marc Trestman, who will have more control of the offense. Trestman said the main focus for the offense is to cut down on the turnovers in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Flacco should be ready for the start of the season but should be considered as a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues. Justin Forsett and Javorius Allen will be solid options for owners since they will both receive playing time. The team's wide receivers are a question mark since Steve Smith and Breshad Perriman are dealing with injury. Smith should be a middle-round option if he is healthy. Mike Wallace and Kamar Aiken could be sleeper candidates if Smith and Perriman are not ready for the season.

Ravens | Steve Smith has torn Achilles'

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 13:09:28 -0800

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (Achilles') will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn Achilles', according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Smith ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) had been on record as saying that he was going to retire at the end of the 2015 season but it's hard to imagine his career ending on this note. In fact, Harbaugh said at his postgame press conference that he has a feeling that he'll be back in 2016. Smith will finish the year with 46 receptions, 670 receiving yards and three touchdowns and is just 39 catches away from 1,000 career receptions.

Ravens | Owen Daniels wants to return to BAL

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 04:36:28 -0800

Free-agent TE Owen Daniels (Ravens) has expressed interest in returning to the Baltimore Ravens, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Daniels rebounded from a down 2013 season where he was hurt, and he caught four touchdown passes and had 527 yards. He remains a decent fantasy play because of his on-field rapport with QB Joe Flacco.

Ravens | Nothing definitive on Dennis Pitta

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 11:44:07 -0800

Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) has not heard anything definitive from doctors about getting cleared for football activities, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh said the hip is healthy enough to live a great life, but football is unknown.

Fantasy Tip: Pitta is coming off two major hip injuries, and could likely be available as a late-TE2 in traditional drafts this fall.

Ravens | Two Ravens skill players to practice

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 10:20:03 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) and WR Torrey Smith (knee) both were expected to practice on Friday, Dec. 5, all along, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: It is a good sign that both Forsett and Smith are practicing Friday, and both should be good to go for Week 14. Forsett (6,800) is a good option in FantasyScore this week if he is good to go. Smith ($5,800) is a bit of a risky start in FantasyScore as the Dolphins have had one of the better fantasy defenses against the pass.
