Citing the New York Times, ESPN.com reports former Philadelphia Eagles S Andre Waters, who died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound last November, may have suffered from brain damage and depression, which ultimately could have led to his suicide, according to a leading forensic pathologist. The forensic pathologist, Dr. Bennet Omalu of the University of Pittsburgh, told The Times that the condition of Waters' brain tissue was what would be expected in an 85-year-old man, and there were characteristics of someone being in the early stages of Alzheimer's. The doctor said he believes the brain damage could have been due to successive concussions suffered during his career.
