"Starks, he did great today."

The Big Five formation features an empty backfield with five receivers. The running backs, including RBs Brandon Jackson and Dimitri Nance, only had 11 carries in the game. "Our run game, we've been working at it for a long time," offensive coordinator Joe Philbin said. "We haven't changed a whole lot. We need better execution and better production. It's not one person. It's not one position. It's a unit-wide issue. We've got to keep addressing it and keep working on it." The team hasn't had a back average more than 3.8 yards per carry in the last four games. Bedard, of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I'm ready," Jackson said. Jackson was the starter for the first three games of the 2007 season before a shin injury sidelined him and opened the door for RB Ryan Grant to seize hold of the starter's job and never let go. Head coach Mike McCarthy said the team is going to move on and continue to run their offense the way they typically do. "I thought Brandon Jackson ran well," said Philbin. "Broke some tackles. We have some really good clips of him breaking tackles, which is something we have been emphasizing. I don't want to minimize Ryan's contributions. I think our running game was pretty solid. I wish it was a little more consistent." Jackson is the only remaining running back on the roster, though FB John Kuhn, who works with the running backs every day, can also play the position. "They're able to do some things that not your normal running backs could do," said Kuhn of all the fullbacks. "We're used to the playbook and we know what to do on third down. Same with the running backs, too. They have to block as well."

"This kid is talented, and this kid is committed," Bennett said. "We're talking about a guy, to be quite frank, who hasn't missed a day. In the offseason workout program, he hasn't missed a beat. You root for guys like that." Lumpkin needs to stay healthy if he wants to make the roster, but his work on the practice squad last year should give him a leg up over his competition.
