Cardinals | More teams interested in Colby Rasmus

Tue, 26 Jul 2011 16:12:58 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Colby Rasmus is drawing interest from the Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals. The latter two teams will be watching Rasmus in action this week; with this in mind, the Cards put Rasmus in the lineup Monday night.

Rasmus fits the Nationals' center-field need, and Washington has pitching that they could trade, including SP Jason Marquis and John Lannan, and RP Tyler Clippard. Rasmus appears to be a backup plan for San Francisco, who has Carlos Beltran as their top target.

In order to trade Rasmus, St. Louis would likely need immediate pitching help in return. Either a starter or a reliever could help, because the Cards could move Kyle McClellan from the rotation to the bullpen.
