The latter two teams will be watching Rasmus in action this week; with this in mind, the Cards put Rasmus in the lineup Monday night. Rasmus fits the Nationals' center-field need, and Washington has pitching that they could trade, including SP Jason Marquis and John Lannan, and RP Tyler Clippard. Rasmus appears to be a backup plan for San Francisco, who has Carlos Beltran as their top target. In order to trade Rasmus, St. Louis would likely need immediate pitching help in return. Either a starter or a reliever could help, because the Cards could move Kyle McClellan from the rotation to the bullpen.
