Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton completed 20 of his 34 pass attempts for 209 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 16 against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton was back under center and he did an adequate job, but he will likely remain a backup in 2018 and beyond.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton not fully healed

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 22:10:15 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) will be playing "in a lot of pain" in Week 16, according to head coach Bruce Arians, who classified Stanton's knee injury as "bad."

Fantasy Tip: Well, just in case you needed another reason not to play Stanton this Sunday (and, for the record, you didn't) here it is. Suffice to say that Arians calling Stanton's number over a healthy Blaine Gabbert doesn't bode well for the latter's future in Arizona. In the short term, though, neither player would be a fantasy option.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton will start

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 11:21:03 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton will start against the New York Giants in Week 16 in place of QB Blaine Gabbert, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton played fairly well in the two games he started this year, throwing for 473 total yards and three touchdowns. Of course, he's nowhere near good enough to be starting on fantasy championship squads, but he makes for a cheap DFS play.

Cardinals | Blaine Gabbert will remain starter

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 11:34:30 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Blaine Gabbert will start again next week no matter the status of QB Drew Stanton (knee), according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Gabbert earned the right to be under center for at least one more game after slicing up the vaunted Jacksonville Jaguars defense. Gabbert did throw an interception, but he was otherwise efficient throughout the game en route to a Cards win. Don't expect lightning to strike twice, though, as Gabbert faces another tough test in the Los Angeles Rams next week.

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 11:28:36 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Blaine Gabbert will remain the starter at least until QB Drew Stanton (knee) is back at full health, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Gabbert was a pleasant fantasy surprise in his first start of the season last week, although he did throw two interceptions. Unfortunately, Gabbert and the Cardinals face the Jacksonville Jaguars next week. Do not start Blaine Gabbert.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton practices

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 12:09:34 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) participated in practice Tuesay, Nov. 14, according to head coach Bruce Arians, although it's unclear how much he was able to do. QB Blaine Gabbert did receive some first-team repetitions.

Fantasy Tip: If Stanton plays he has a terrific matchup versus the Houston Texans and would make for a sneaky start. Gabbert, on the other hand, has not played all year and cannot be trusted to start on fantasy squads.

Sat, 11 Nov 2017 11:24:16 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) suffered a sprained knee during the team's Week 10 game and could miss a week or two, according to sources. QB Blaine Gabbert will start Week 11 if Stanton remains sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor Stanton's practice participation next week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 11. Owners should avoid whoever the starting quarterback will be against the Houston Texans.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton solid in defeat

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 21:14:53 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton completed 24 of 47 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: It could've been a banner day for Stanton, but his receivers left plays on the field, including a pair of potential touchdowns -- one before the half and the other near the end of the game. Stanton missed some throws as well. Even with that, Stanton's 273 passing yards were his most since 2014 when he threw for 294 against the Atlanta Falcons. It at least puts him on the radar as a desperation option.

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton completed 15 of his 30 pass attempts for 201 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 9 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton was helped out by the fact Adrian Peterson was running like his former All-Pro self and the fact the Cards were facing the hapless 49ers. Stanton and the Cardinals have a quick turnaround before facing the Seahawks on Thursday night.

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton completed five of his 14 pass attempts for 62 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the Week 7 game against the Los Angeles Rams in London.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton to receive start

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 11:48:54 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton will be the starting quarterback for the Cardinals against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton has not received much playing time over the last few years but will have a solid group of receivers to work with in the passing game. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better options to use and can avoid Stanton this week.

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton said he has talked with the Cardinals about the possibility of being the starting quarterback once QB Carson Palmer retires. Stanton said that was a factor in him re-signing with Arizona.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton will be the backup as long as Palmer is with the team, so he will not have much fantasy value for the next year or two unless Palmer suffers an injury.

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 15:32:33 -0800

Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent QB Drew Stanton agreed to re-sign a two-year deal with the Cardinals Tuesday, March 8. Financial terms were undisclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton will return as a backup for the aging veteran Carson Palmer, so Stanton won't have any significant value immediately. He'd probably be a weak fantasy backup, at best, if he saw starts.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer rested in blowout

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 15:49:09 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer was rested for a majority of the fourth quarter in a blowout win against the Detroit Lions in Week 5. Palmer finished completing 11 of his 14 passes for 161 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. QB Drew Stanton replaced him and finished the rout.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) has been one of the most reliable FantasyScore options all season, posting at least one touchdown in each of his first five games, and two or more TD strikes in four of his five games with three 300-yard games.

Stanton was dealing with an infection in his knee.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking increasingly unlikely that Stanton will return to play in the playoffs. You can ignore him at FantasyScore, and he'd be a very weak play even if he returns. You should also ignore Ryan Lindley this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers.
