The San Diego Union-Tribune reports exclusive-rights free agent C Jason Ball did not attend the San Diego Chargers' voluntary workouts Monday, May 17, because of a dispute over his contract situation. Ball, who has not participated in any of this offseason's voluntary workouts, is seeking a multiyear deal similar to what other starting NFL centers make. Ball's $304,400 in salary and bonuses last season was less than half what backup C Cory Raymer, now with the Washington Redskins, made. Despite his free agent status, Ball can't talk with other clubs because the Chargers own his exclusive rights after tendering him a one-year, $375,000 contract offer.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the San Diego Chargers are still trying to re-sign free agent C Kendyl Jacox. The Chargers have added free agent C Cory Raymer and have talked about moving Jacox to guard. However, Jacox said he's not going to have any part of that. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer said the team won't move Raymer to guard and that they're still looking to upgrade the offensive line position through free agency and the draft.
