Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller had eight catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3.
Fantasy Tip: Brian Hoyer tends to lean on his tight ends, and Miller has a ton of upside while Jay Cutler (thumb) is out. Miller is a midrange TE1 option with upside against the Detroit Lions next week.
Mon, 29 Aug 2016 15:23:03 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) passed his concussion tests and participated in practice Monday, Aug. 29. Head coach John Fox said he is not sure if Miller will play in the final preseason game.
Fantasy Tip: Miller has been sidelined for several weeks because of the concussion but appears to be on track to play in Week 1. He should have a solid role in the passing game this season but probably should be a No. 2 tight end in most leagues.
Tue, 23 Aug 2016 20:34:09 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) was once again in a red jersey, which signifies no contact, during practice on Tuesday, Aug. 23, but is thought to be close to returning from the NFL's concussion protocol.
Fantasy Tip: Miller's preseason concussion trouble doesn't really change his outlook at all, as he was always a risky TE2 due to a long list of medical issues over the years.
Sat, 20 Aug 2016 20:56:53 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) returned to the practice field Saturday, Aug. 20, although he wore a red jersey to signify he is off-limits in terms of contact.
Fantasy Tip: Miller re-emerged as a fantasy option last season, but his injury history is a big concern. Treat Miller more as a TE2 due to his propensity for injury.
Tue, 16 Aug 2016 23:58:15 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion), who returned to practice on Saturday, Aug. 13, was absent on Tuesday, Aug. 16, and while head coach John Fox indicated Miller hadn't suffered a setback he did meet with team doctors.
Fantasy Tip: Injuries are always a concern, but given Miller's lengthy history this is exactly the kind of thing fantasy owners that invested a pick on last year's feel-good story didn't want to see. He's a risky TE2 with a moderately high ceiling and a very low floor.
Sun, 14 Aug 2016 08:07:08 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) is expected to practice again Sunday, Aug. 14, after he was limited during practice Saturday, Aug. 13.
Fantasy Tip: Miller likely will be eased back into practice after sitting out about two weeks because of his concussion. He should receive some preseason snaps but likely will be limited during those games. He should be a solid option in the passing game this season and probably will be a No. 2 tight end in most leagues.
Sat, 13 Aug 2016 16:51:03 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 13, for the first time since July 31.
Fantasy Tip: Long one of the league's most injury-prone players, Miller had a nice second-half run with the Bears after Martellus Bennett was lost for the season. With Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White healthy (for now), the 31-year-old is going to have a tough time matching his production down the stretch last year. He's a TE2 in 12-team leagues.
Fri, 05 Aug 2016 11:52:53 -0700
Chicago Bears WRs Alshon Jeffery (hamstring), Kevin White (rest), Eddie Royal (concussion) and TE Zach Miller (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Aug. 5. Head coach John Fox said it was a scheduled day off for White, and Fox noted both Royal and Miller are improving.
Fantasy Tip: Continue to view Jeffery as a fringe No. 1 receiver worth grabbing any time into Round 2 of drafts, whereas White is an upside candidate to target into the middle rounds as your No. 3 or No. 4 wide receiver. Miller is a late-round option after a decent finish to 2015 (31 receptions, 404 yards and five touchdowns over the final eight games). At this point, Royal is a low-end option in deep leagues.
Thu, 04 Aug 2016 08:01:17 -0700
Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (concussion) and TE Zach Miller (concussion) are out of practice Thursday, Aug. 4.
Fantasy Tip: Royal could end up starting in the slot, or he may not even make the team. He has been pretty underwhelming after a strong rookie season in 2008, and at age 30, he's a questionable WR5 flyer. Miller is 31, and his 34-439-5 line last season was by far the best of his career. The Bears don't have a lot of proven options to throw to, and he could be heavily involved. However, there are options with more upside in that low-end TE1 range. He's a safer TE2 with upside.
Mon, 01 Aug 2016 10:06:44 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) has been diagnosed with a concussion, according to head coach John Fox.
Fantasy Tip: Miller will be sidelined until he is able to pass all of his concussion tests. He will have several weeks to recover from the injury and should be ready for the start of the season. Miller should have a solid role in the passing game in 2016 and can be a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.
Mon, 01 Aug 2016 09:33:43 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller is not rehabbing a major injury for the first offseason of his NFL career, which began in 2009. He has the starting job all to himself with the departure of TE Martellus Bennett, but Miller must master new offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains' system this offseason to pick up where he left off.
Fantasy Tip: The bulk of Miller's production came in a seven-game stretch during the second half of the season. He was targeted a mere seven times in the first eight games of 2015. At 31 years old, a true breakout season may not be in the cards, but he should provide reasonably strong TE1 numbers as long as he remains on the field.
Fri, 03 Jun 2016 11:18:50 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller said he expects to be one of the offense's main weapons in the 2016 season. "I think everyone as a playmaker, you expect to be that," he said. "I'm going to have an opportunity to show that ability and really kind of just take over from how we left off last season. I showed there were opportunities where I could make plays. That's kind of how I'm going to approach how we begin the year." Miller accumulated 34 catches for 439 yards and a team-high five touchdown receptions in 2015.
Fantasy Tip: Miller was one of the more surprising contributors around the league last season, after missing the previous three years due to injuries. He has the chance to be a real sleeper in the upcoming campaign, as the team shipped out former starting tight end Martellus Bennett, meaning the job is basically Miller's to lose. Considering the rapport he built with Jay Cutler, there is hope he can build on last year's production and perhaps solidify himself as one of the best value picks at his position later in drafts.
Mon, 14 Mar 2016 15:36:28 -0700
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal to return to the Bears Monday, March 14, according to a source. He can make $2 million more in incentives.
Fantasy Tip: Miller posted a career-high 34 catches for 439 yards and five touchdowns in his first season with Chicago, but most of that production came with Martellus Bennett sidelined with injury. Bennett could be traded this offseason, which would make Miller more fantasy relevant, but still probably as nothing more than a fantasy backup.
Sun, 13 Mar 2016 10:17:28 -0700
Free-agent TE Zach Miller (Bears) is scheduled to meet with the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, March 13, according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: Miller is coming off a solid 2015 season and probably would have a good chance to start for the Rams if he signed with them. The Rams have questions at the quarterback position, which would make Miller a No. 2 tight end for fantasy owners if he plays for Los Angeles.
Wed, 24 Feb 2016 11:23:28 -0800
Chicago Bears impending free-agent LB Shea McClellin and TE Zach Miller are expected to test the free-agent market this offseason, but general manager Ryan Pace indicated they could both be re-signed at the right price.
Fantasy Tip: Miller had a nice run as the starting tight end when both Martellus Bennett and Alshon Jeffery were banged up in 2015. But unless an injury opens up more time like it did last year, Miller doesn't carry much fantasy value at all with Chicago.
Tue, 02 Feb 2016 11:45:05 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March of 2016, is asking for $5 million per year in his next contract, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Prior to playing 15 games last year, Miller had not appeared in a regular-season game since 2011. Despite his breakout second half, the Bears are likely to look at other options - including perhaps bringing back Martellus Bennett at roughly the same price - if Miller's asking price does not drop. If Miller remains in Chicago and Bennett does not, he has low-end TE1 potential. If both stick around, the 31-year-old journeyman would be a high-upside fantasy backup at best.
Sun, 03 Jan 2016 09:22:17 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (toe) is not active for Week 17's game against the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) did not practice during the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Rob Housler ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is likely to start at tight end for the Bears but he is not a recommended FantasyScore option.
Sun, 03 Jan 2016 08:55:21 -0800
The Chicago Bears have declared WR Eddie Royal, C Hroniss Grasu, DB Jacoby Glenn, DL Jarvis Jenkins, OT Tayo Fabuluje, DL Terry Williams, TE Zach Miller inactive for Week 17.
Fri, 01 Jan 2016 12:47:03 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (toe) did not practice Friday, Jan. 1, and is listed as questionable for the Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy Tip: After failing to practice all week, Miller ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should be viewed as risky fantasy option for Week 17. He has 18 catches for 211 yards and a touchdown over his past three games, and his increased involvement in the passing game makes him a potential low-priced flier, if he is active against Detroit. You'll want to have a backup plan ready and check back for an official announcement on his status Sunday, Jan. 3, if you're planning to roll out Miller at FantasyScore, though.
Thu, 31 Dec 2015 11:26:59 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (toe) and WR Eddie Royal (illness) both missed practice Thursday, Dec. 31.
Fantasy Tip: That's two straight missed practices this week for both players, which doesn't bode well for their status Sunday. Miller ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is a nice value pick at tight end in a solid matchup for daily gamers, just make sure he's playing. Royal ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) should see his role increase with Alshon Jeffery out, but he remains an unattractive deep sleeper.
Wed, 30 Dec 2015 22:46:22 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller will face the Detroit Lions in Week 17. The Lions have allowed the most touchdowns (12) to opposing tight ends this season while yielding 76 receptions and 820 yards.
Fantasy Tip: Since Martellus Bennett succumbed to injury Miller ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been a solid FantasyScore option when the matchup is favorable, and this game certainly fits the bill.
Wed, 30 Dec 2015 15:12:33 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (toe) and WR Eddie Royal (illness) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has at least five grabs and 57 yards in each of the last three games, and he's a great value pick in daily leagues against a Detroit Lions team that struggles to cover tight ends. Royal ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has 10 catches in the last two games but hasn't done much with it. He remains a low-end receiver on FantasyScore, even with Alshon Jeffery out.
Sun, 27 Dec 2015 18:35:31 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller led his team in receiving yardage in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, posting seven grabs for 69 yards on eight targets. No one else had more than five grabs or 32 yards.
Fantasy Tip: Miller has stepped up his game, replacing Martellus Bennett nicely. He has re-emerged as a solid low-cost FantasyScore option.
Sun, 20 Dec 2015 08:48:12 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (ribs) is active for Week 15's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) makes a solid value play in FantasyScore and his fantasy stock has climbed in recent weeks due to the season-ending injury to TE Martellus Bennett (ribs). He had five receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown last week and the Bears should continue to make him a key part of their offense for the foreseeable future.
Fri, 18 Dec 2015 11:14:12 -0800
Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (calf, illness) and TE Zach Miller (ribs) are both listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Minnesota Vikings. Jeffery returned to practice Friday, Dec. 18.
Fantasy Tip: It's a good sign that Jeffery ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) was able to practice Friday, but he may be a game-time decision Sunday morning. Check the inactives before putting him in your daily lineups. If he's playing, he's a solid FantasyScore pick, as he's been one of the most productive receivers this year when health. Miller ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) should be OK barring a setback. Be careful, though, as he's been heavily touchdown-reliant in recent weeks.
Thu, 17 Dec 2015 14:06:50 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (ribs) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 17.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has seen his value rise even more with Martellus Bennett done for the year, and Miller had a season-high five catches for 85 yards and a score last week. He should remain heavily involved and a fine value pick at tight end on FantasyScore this weekend.
Wed, 16 Dec 2015 15:00:39 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (illness) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) still has three days to recover from whatever illness he's dealing with. He's the Bears' starting tight end now with Martellus Bennett out for the season. He's definitely worth consideration for FantasyScore lineups, assuming he plays.
Sun, 13 Dec 2015 09:38:27 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (ribs) is active for Week 14's game against the Washington Redskins.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) had been listed as questionable on the team's injury report but was able to participate in practice on a limited basis this week. He's worth considering as a FantasyScore value play, with Martellus Bennett out for the rest of the season.
Fri, 11 Dec 2015 10:32:24 -0800
Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (knee) and TE Zach Miller (ribs) are both questionable to play in Week 14 against the Washington Redskins.
Fantasy Tip: Royal ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) hasn't played since Nov. 1 and should be given some time back before being thrown immediately into daily lineups. Miller ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is a great deep sleeper pick at tight end if he suits up with Martellus Bennett done for the season.
Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:10:50 -0800
Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (knee) and TE Zach Miller (ribs) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.
Fantasy Tip: Royal ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has had a long hiatus and could be rusty if he does play; it's best to wait at least another week before plugging him into FantasyScore lineups. Miller ($2,300, 4.6%) is a great value play, on the other hand, with Martellus Bennett out for the year.
Wed, 09 Dec 2015 19:39:09 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (ribs) was listed was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is likely to be a vital cog in the offense with Martellus Bennett landing on the Reserve/Injured list this week. Miller could be a nice FantasyScore sleeper if he can get back on the practice field and play Sunday.
Sun, 06 Dec 2015 07:34:19 -0800
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (ribs) is expected to play in Week 13's game against the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Miller ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) had been listed as questionable on the team's most recent injury report because of a fractured rib. He has four touchdowns in his last four games but makes a risky play in FantasyScore because he is likely to see limited snaps versus the Niners.
Fri, 04 Dec 2015 15:36:49 -0800
Chicago Bears DT Bruce Gaston (illness), TE Zach Miller (ribs) and S Antrel Rolle (knee) are questionable for Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers. McPhee and Miller were limited, while Carey and Long practiced in full.
