Updating a previous item, the Dallas Cowboys have not supplied the paperwork yet to release special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis from his contract to join the Chicago Bears; however, that is expected to happen.

David Moore, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis will not join the team's coaching staff at the NFL Scouting Combine next week. DeCamillis will be in Atlanta for a consultation with the Shepherd Center, one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country for patients with spinal injuries. DeCamillis is seeking to alleviate the persistent pain in his neck and back.

Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis returned home Monday, Dec. 28, one day after undergoing an emergency appendectomy and missing the team's Week 16 game. DeCamillis is planning to return to work Tuesday, Dec. 29, according to head coach Wade Phillips.

The Associated Press reports Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis was on the field again Wednesday, July 29, for the start of the team's training camp. DeCamillis suffered a broken neck when the team's practice facility collapsed. DeCamillis said he is hoping to get the neck brace off at a doctor's visit Aug. 10. He added, "I'm just trying to make sure I make it through two-a-days. That's my rehab right now. ... I guess it is a fight. I'm going to keep slugging, I can tell you that."

ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis said during a radio interview that he feared that he would suffocate when he was under a tarp during the collapse of the team's practice facility. "The scariest part was the tarp was on top of us. So, you thought you were really going to suffocate. I knew my back was hurt, but you thought you were going to suffocate when you were sitting there because there was like six inches on the ground, and there was a big old tarp on top of you. That was really scary," DeCamillis said.

The Associated Press reports government inspectors were on site at the Dallas Cowboys' practice facility Monday, May 4, and began investigating the collapse, said Elizabeth Todd, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Officials with the city of Irving were examining construction and inspection paperwork regarding the $4 million structure built in 2003. Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis was one of 12 people injured and three Cowboys staff members still in the hospital following the accident Saturday, May 2. DeCamillis was scheduled for surgery Monday, May 4, on his fractured cervical vertebrae.

Tim MacMahon, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis (back) suffered broken vertebrae in his back during the team's collapse of their indoor facility, according to his father-in-law Dan Reeves. Reeves said DeCamillis was undergoing an MRI and a CT scan, along with further tests.
