Frank Hughes, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks have waived CB Jamar Adams, QB Dalton Bell, DT Kevin Brown, WR Michael Bumpus, C Ben Claxton, CB Marquis Floyd, P Reggie Hodges, S Kelin Johnson, C Nick Jones, FB David Kirtman, OG Pat Murray, TE Joe Newton, LB Dallas Sartz, WR Trent Shelton, DE Nu'u Tafisi and OT Kyle A. Williams from the team. The team also terminated the contracts of WR Bryan Gilmore and DT Larry Tripplett.

Seahawks | Newton has rough practice

Frank Hughes, of The News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks TE Joe Newton had a rough practice Thursday, June 5. Newton was hit by LB D.D. Lewis on a play over the middle and he found himself on the ground. On another play, Newton couldn't come up with the catch and tipped it to CB Kevin Hobbs who intercepted the pass.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Oregon State TE Joe Newton (hamstring) measured a height of 6-foot-6 and a weight of 256 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.76 seconds, but was unable to run a second time because his hamstring tightened up. He ran the short shuttle in 4.38 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.96 seconds.

During his NFL Combine interview, Oregon State TE Joe Newton measured a height of 6-7 and a weight of 257 pounds. Newton is represented by Athletes First. During his interview, Newton said he believes run-blocking is an underrated part of his game. He also feels one of his biggest strengths is his ability to make tough catches.
