By restructuring the contracts of WR Marques Colston, G Jahri Evans, G Ben Grubbs and LB David Hawthorne, the New Orleans Saints have shaved around $10 million off of their 2013 salary cap. Before the moves, the Saints were roughly $15 million over the 2013 projected salary cap.

New Orleans Saints G Ben Grubbs has restructured his contract. He converted a portion of his base salary into a signing bonus. His base salary will now be $1.2 million, down from $5.2 million. The $4 million difference will be paid in a signing bonus, which will be spread over the remainder of his contract and saves the team $3 million against the cap.

He's in the prime of his career and may or may not have another opportunity to sign another significant contract," agent Pat Dye said. "He needs to be sure that he explores all his options. He loves it there and would welcome being back there, but anything that the Ravens present him, we would have to evaluate it in the context of what the market might bear to him. Is that to say something might not happen before free agency starts? No, that's not to say that at all. I would expect that we would be talking in the near future, but I don't think a (deal) is imminent at this point."
