Free-agent WR Terrell Owens (Seahawks) said the fact that the New York Jets are using CB Antonio Cromartie at wide receiver shows that they're desperate, and they need an experienced receiver like him. "I've read a lot of tweets and everybody's saying that I'm desperate, I'm begging for a job," Owens said. "But it's not begging for a job when you know you can still play at a high level, given the opportunity. When you have a defensive back playing offense and running routes, then I think that's more desperate than my actual tweet itself." According to Owens, teams are showing no interest because there's still a perception that he'd be a distraction in the locker room.

The New York Jets are not expected to sign veteran free-agent WRs Chad Johnson (Dolphins) or Terrell Owens (Seahawks) because they do not want to add a player that could serve as gasoline on the fire for the New York tabloids. The Jets care very much about what the media thinks.
