Red Sox | Shane Victorino set for platoon?

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 14:01:45 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Shane Victorino (calf) is expected to be involved in a platoon in right field with OF Alejandro De Aza when he returns. Victorino could return by the weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Victorino ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) would only be attractive to those in deep mixed and AL leagues if he's only starting against left-handed pitchers. Even then he won't retain much fantasy value, as he was only hitting .156 (5-for-32) against lefties before his injury. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) should be targeted in AL leagues if he's not owned.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez remains out

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:13:27 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (wrist) remains out of the lineup Tuesday, June 30. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in left field and hitting seventh against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez could return any day now, so keep an eye out. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been an excellent value play in Ramirez's absence, and he's riding a five-game hitting streak in which he has nine knocks (three home runs) and six RBI. He's more of a risk against Estrada, though, as he's taken no-hit bids deep into his last two outings.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez could return this week

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 14:39:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand), who is dealing with a badly bruised left hand, is optimistic that he can return during the team's four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays this week. He could be back in the lineup if he feels fine swinging a bat over the next few days. Ramirez hasn't played since last Wednesday, but the Red Sox have avoided putting him on the disabled list after the swelling in his hand diminished over the weekend. OF Alejandro De Aza has started four straight games in left field and has gone 6-for-15 (.400) with three home runs and six RBI.

Fantasy Tip: It's wise to avoid Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) at least until later this week, and sitting him in weekly leagues is probably the right call. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) could once again be a very fine sleeper pick on FantasyScore while going against Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey in a hitter-friendly environment tonight.

Red Sox | Alejandro De Aza on a tear

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 18:38:45 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Alejandro De Aza went 2-for-4 with a home run in a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, June 28, and he has three home runs in his last four games.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been starting in place of Hanley Ramirez, and with Ramirez heading back to Boston for an MRI on his hand, De Aza could be in line for some more starts. The Red Sox begin a four-game series with a Toronto team yielding plenty of runs, so De Aza could make a nice short-term source of cap relief at FantasyScore to start the week.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez remains out

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 09:24:23 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Sunday, June 28. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) could be placed on the 15-day disabled list, so owners should monitor the situation. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has at least one hit in seven of his last nine games and nine RBI in that span. De Aza could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Red Sox | Alejandro De Aza homers again

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 18:17:51 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Alejandro De Aza homered for the second time in three games in a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been starting in place of the injured Hanley Ramirez, and he has two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored in the three games Ramirez has missed. Ramirez is still unable to swing a bat, so De Aza could make a worthwhile source of cap relief at FantasyScore for a few more games.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez sitting out

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 11:23:25 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is out of the lineup Saturday, June 27, with OF Alejandro De Aza in his place.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) hasn't done much with a .269-1-9 line this month. You can find better options on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez out vs. Rays

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 12:09:00 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 26. OF Alejandro De Aza is playing left field and batting seventh against Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He is currently day-to-day after being hit on the left wrist by a line drive Wednesday, June 24. X-rays and a CT scan on Ramirez came back negative, though. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) should be viewed as low-priced flier for FantasyScore players, and he is currently riding a 9-for-26 run with a 1.085 OPS.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez sitting out

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 07:59:20 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is out of the lineup Thursday, June 25, with OF Alejandro De Aza in his place.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting seventh against Miguel Gonzalez but isn't worth the FantasyScore buy.

Red Sox | Xander Bogaerts out of lineup

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 13:27:18 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts is out of the starting lineup Saturday, June 20, against the Kansas City Royals. OF Brock Holt will move to shortstop, with OF Alejandro De Aza starting in right field and batting eighth in the order against RHP Edinson Volquez.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is 5-for-12 with two doubles and a triple during a mini three-game hit streak. De Aza is always worth consideration against right-handed pitching, and he'll be an option Saturday night, despite the spot at the bottom of the order.
