Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said Monday, April 7, that there were no concerns about SP Clay Buchholz's health in the aftermath of his poor outing Saturday, April 5. Farrell said the issue was one of location rather than health.

Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz was hitting 93 mph with his fastball in his outing Tuesday, March 4, and he said he felt good after he dealt with shoulder fatigue late last season. "It definitely feels completely different than the last month and a half, two months that I threw last year," Buchholz said. "That's what I wanted to feel like coming into camp, and I just have to keep working day to day and getting out there every five days."

Boston Red Sox SPs Jon Lester, John Lackey and Clay Buchholz will not pitch until their second turn in the spring training rotation because of the appearances they made during the playoffs. RPs Koji Uehara, Junichi Tazawa, Craig Breslow and Edward Mujica will also be used cautiously during spring training.

Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) said he is coming into spring training feeling strong after building up his arm with long toss. He missed three months with a shoulder injury and said he didn't start feeling normal until late November. Buchholz didn't add any weight in the offseason, and he is at his normal 180 pounds.

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said SP Jake Peavy would start a potential Game 7 of the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals "as of now." Peavy has struggled in his last two starts, though, leaving SP Felix Doubront as a possibility to take the start if he doesn't pitch in Game 6 for multiple innings. SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) could be available in Game 6, too, and SP Jon Lester figures to be available to pitch in Game 7 if needed.

Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) has offered to pitch in relief in Game 6, and Game 7, if necessary. He had been dealing with a fatigued shoulder, but said Monday, Oct. 28, that he was feeling stronger than expected after his Game 4 start.
