Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons had his contract restructured Tuesday, Feb. 26, to help the team clear salary cap space. According to a source, the team guaranteed a large portion of the $7.875 million Timmons was owed in total compensation. The move doesn't cost Timmons anything, as he gets his money up front instead of through the course of the season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in a strange position, as linebacker might be their top priority heading into the NFL Draft. However, LB Lawrence Timmons, who led the team in tackles with 134, is a mainstay. He also tied for the team lead with six sacks, led with three interceptions, had 19 quarterback pressures, and forced two fumbles. He is 26 and under contract for the next four years. Impending free-agent LB Larry Foote (Steelers) might also be back on a one-year deal, but they still might look in the draft early for help.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel completed just 11 of his 26 pass attempts for 154 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His interception was returned by LB Lawrence Timmons into the red zone in overtime.
