Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles entered the team's Week 3 game in the second half after QB Chad Henne was benched.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Bortles will keep the job or if Henne will get another start. Owners should monitor the situation during practice next week, but neither quarterback should be an option for most owners at this point.
Mon, 15 Sep 2014 10:48:40 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne is still the starting quarterback for now, according to head coach Gus Bradley.
Fantasy Tip: Henne could be on a short leash with Blake Bortles waiting in the wings. Owners in all leagues should avoid using Henne for the time being.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles was not considered to play in Week 2 as QB Chad Henne was sacked 10 times in the game. However, head coach Gus Bradley wouldn't comment on whether they will consider starting Bortles in Week 3.

Fri, 22 Aug 2014 22:00:13 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will start the Week 1 game ahead of rookie QB Blake Bortles, head coach Gus Bradley said Friday, Aug. 22.
Fantasy Tip: Bortles has more fantasy upside, and the way he has played this preseason it's hard to believe that Bradley will not give the rookie a shot to start the opener. Henne is nothing more than a low-end QB2 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.
Fri, 15 Aug 2014 15:04:29 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles has impressed the team with his progress in training camp and the preseason so far, according to head coach Gus Bradley.
Fantasy Tip: Barring a catastrophic event or injury to Chad Henne, Bortles will enter Week 1 holding the clipboard on the sideline, and he's expected to sit the bench for most, if not all, of the season. It's nice to see Bortles play well early, but he shouldn't sniff any single-year rosters for fantasy football.
Fri, 15 Aug 2014 11:56:37 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will start in the team's Week 1 game, according to head coach Gus Bradley.
Fantasy Tip: This is really not a surprise as it has been the likely outcome of the this quarterback competition. Henne is a low-end backup quarterback in all leagues.
Thu, 14 Aug 2014 21:31:18 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne threw for 130 yards and a touchdown in the team's second preseason game against the Chicago Bears Thursday, Aug. 14. He showed nice mobility in the pocket and was 12-for-17 before leaving in the second quarter. "We feel very strongly about Chad," head coach Gus Bradley said.
Fantasy Tip: Henne is battling Blake Bortles for the starting job this preseason. Bortles also performed admirably in the preseason game, but it's still Henne's job to lose. Unless something crazy happens, you should expect Henne to line up under center in Week 1. Henne is a low-end backup quarterback in all leagues.

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 11:48:24 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne has been given permission to call more audibles in his second season under offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch.
Fantasy Tip: This could certainly free up the playbook for Henne and Co., though he's still not exactly a reliable fantasy quarterback. The wide receiver corps is somewhat lacking in Jacksonville, too. Henne is still a backup quarterback in all scoring formats.
Mon, 21 Jul 2014 00:01:36 -0700
Although the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff is still high on QB Chad Henne, coach Gus Bradley said QB Blake Bortles could start a preseason game. "It would be late in the preseason if he did, and we'll see how things go," said Bradley. "We're really excited about Chad and what he's going to do so we'll see how it goes with him until that fourth preseason game."
Thu, 03 Jul 2014 07:40:53 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne is the no-doubt starter, according to beat writer Ryan O'Halloran. O'Halloran predicts rookie QB Blake Bortles could be the starter by Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins. Another possibility is Week 12 after the bye week.
Fantasy Tip: Henne is a weak QB2 but could be a worthwhile matchup play at some point. Bortles has little value in single-season leagues right now.

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley reiterated that the team wants to give QB Blake Bortles a year to develop behind QB Chad Henne. "We really felt comfortable with (Henne) coming back, with a another year in the system," Bradley said. "And I think it gave us flexibility. Then when Blake was there available for us, we really wanted to capture that opportunity. We do feel good about where Blake's at, but we feel like this time that he has under Chad - a year to develop - will be really good in the end result."
Fri, 09 May 2014 09:23:11 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said QB Chad Henne will enter the 2014 season as the starting quarterback, with QB Blake Bortles getting a chance to develop without the pressure of having to win games. "It's such an important position in this league and you want to do it right," Caldwell said. "That's what we're about. ... We have to make it work. We can't just throw him out there. We've seen what happens when that happens."
Fantasy Tip: Bortles shouldn't be on anyone's radar at all during draft season, unless you're in a long-term keeper league.
Fri, 07 Mar 2014 14:10:18 -0800
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley expects QB Chad Henne to be the team's starting quarterback during the team's offseason training activities.
Fantasy Tip: Don't read too much into that. The Jaguars could still draft a quarterback at No. 3 overall in the first round and ease him in behind Henne.
Fri, 07 Mar 2014 12:33:35 -0800
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will make $8 million as part of his two-year deal, and the contract includes $4.5 million guaranteed in the first year, according to a league source.
Fri, 07 Mar 2014 10:34:20 -0800
The Jacksonville Jaguars re-signed QB Chad Henne to an undisclosed two-year deal Friday, March 7.
Fantasy Tip: This won't preclude the Jags from drafting a quarterback with their third overall pick in this year's draft or searching for a capable QB to compete with Henne in free agency, but it makes that need less pressing. Henne returning likely means Blaine Gabbert is done in Jacksonville, however.
Thu, 20 Feb 2014 12:08:33 -0800
Jacksonville Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said the team will meet with representatives for QB Chad Henne this week, and that he does not think Henne will hit free agency.

Tue, 07 Jan 2014 11:51:38 -0800
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said he saw improvement in QB Blaine Gabbert in the second half of the season despite the fact that the team went with QB Chad Henne down the stretch. "I feel like you certainly see a nice evolution," Fisch said. "Of course, it's different playing games, but I do think his maturity level showed through. We could have been a storyline and we weren't. When you make a change in the starting quarterback, that can happen. He handled himself in such a professional manner that maybe there was growth from a maturity standpoint for him." There is speculation that Gabbert will be traded or released this offseason, but general manager Dave Caldwell said he would like Gabbert to return and compete for the job.

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said QB Chad Henne could be re-signed before free agency starts.
Tue, 31 Dec 2013 09:28:41 -0800
The Jacksonville Jaguars appear likely to keep QB Blaine Gabbert for the final year of his contract, unless they draft another quarterback with the third overall pick in next year's draft. It will be hard for Jacksonville to keep Gabbert if they re-sign QB Chad Henne and draft another quarterback. The Jaguars would like to keep at least one player on the roster who is familiar with the offensive system.

Wed, 23 Oct 2013 10:23:37 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) will be active in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers, but he'll serve as the backup to QB Chad Henne. Henne has outplayed Gabbert by completing 59.5 percent of his passes for 1,222 yards and two touchdowns and five interceptions. Gabbert has completed 48.8 percent of his passes for 481 yards, one TD and seven picks in his three starts.
Fantasy Tip: Gabbert could move back into the starting role at some point if Henne falls flat on his face. Stay away from the QB situation here if you can help it.
Wed, 23 Oct 2013 08:28:42 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will remain the team's starting quarterback, even when QB Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) is healthy.
Fri, 18 Oct 2013 18:30:15 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 18, but he has been ruled out for the Week 7 game against the San Diego Chargers. QB Chad Henne will make another start.
Mon, 14 Oct 2013 13:02:31 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) will miss Week 7 against the San Diego Chargers, giving QB Chad Henne another start. Head coach Gus Bradley said Gabbert could be out past Week 7, too. "Blaine will throw on the side (this week)," Bradley said. "We'll see where it is. It is an injury that may take a couple weeks. We'll get him to start throwing on the side. We'll see when Blaine comes back but right now Chad is our quarterback for the San Diego game."
Fantasy Tip: Henne had a decent day against the Denver Broncos in Week 6 despite throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns. Against SD, he makes for another alluring bye-week filler at the QB position.
Mon, 14 Oct 2013 10:06:01 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said QB Chad Henne will be the team's starting quarterback Week 7.
Mon, 07 Oct 2013 14:08:53 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) is dealing with a Grade 2 hamstring strain and will at least miss the team's Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos. QB Chad Henne will make his third start of the year against the Broncos. Head coach Gus Bradley continues to say that Gabbert is still the team's starter, however.
Mon, 07 Oct 2013 12:23:18 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said QB Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) is still the team's starter even though he may miss extended time after hearing his hamstring pop in Week 5.
Fantasy Tip: It's unknown how much time Gabbert will have to miss, so it's conceivable that Chad Henne could impress the coaching staff enough in his absence to win the job. We'll have to wait and see. Henne's return to the starting role should help the values of Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts, if anything. Henne is a mildly intriguing bye week filler at QB if you're desperate.
Sun, 06 Oct 2013 12:17:55 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) left the Week 5 game with a hamstring injury. QB Chad Henne replaced him.
Fri, 20 Sep 2013 16:24:08 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will make his second straight start in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks, as QB Blaine Gabbert (hand) remains sidelined due to a laceration on his throwing hand.
Mon, 16 Sep 2013 13:06:21 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne isn't guaranteed to start in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks, even though QB Blaine Gabbert (hand) is expected to miss another game. Henne went 25-for-38 for 241 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders. Henne was sacked five times. WR Cecil Shorts was targeted 14 times and had eight grabs for 93 yards and WR Ace Sanders had five catches for 64 yards.
Fantasy Tip: Henne will probably start, but he definitely should not be started against arguably the best defense in the league. Shorts and any other Jaguars receiver is an extremely weak play this weekend.
Mon, 16 Sep 2013 10:25:06 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars fans are planning to hold a rally Monday, Sept. 16, to try to encourage the team to sign free-agent QB Tim Tebow (Patriots). The rally is scheduled to last three hours and 16 minutes. QB Chad Henne was 25-for-38 for 241 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 2 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Fantasy Tip: It's probably unlikely that the club takes the fans' advice on this one. Even if they were to sign Tebow, it's unlikely he'd start.
Thu, 12 Sep 2013 09:54:22 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley sounded fine with the possibility of QB Chad Henne playing well and taking the starting quarterback job from QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb, hand). "That's good – I would hope he would say that," Bradley said. "He's a competitor. That's why we have confidence in him playing. I really want him to go out here and capture this and be at his best. That was our conversation today, 'Don't wait until Sunday to compete.'" Gabbert will miss Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders due to injury.
Fantasy Tip: It wouldn't surprise us if Henne played well against Oakland and started in Week 3 over a healthy Gabbert. Henne played well for a stretch last season in the same scenario. The move to Henne bodes well for Cecil Shorts and Jacksonville stretching the field. Still, Henne is a QB2, at best.
Mon, 09 Sep 2013 12:50:53 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said QB Blaine Gabbert (hand) will not play Week 2 because of the hand injury he suffered Week 1.
Fantasy Tip: Chad Henne is expected to start against the Oakland Raiders. We don't recommend starting him, though, given the lack of offensive playmakers in Jacksonville. However, Henne had nice chemistry with Cecil Shorts last year, so that could raise the speedy receiver's value in the short term.
Fri, 06 Sep 2013 11:47:05 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Sept. 6, and he is listed a questionable for the Week 1 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Gus Bradley said a decision on Gabbert's status might come in pre-game warmups Sunday, Sept. 8. If Gabbert cannot go, QB Chad Henne would get the starting nod.

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said the decision on whether to start QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb) or QB Chad Henne for Week 1 may not be made until game time.
Tue, 13 Aug 2013 09:17:15 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QBs Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne continue to battle for the starting job, with no real clear-cut leader in the race. Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said he is not necessarily disappointed, as long as both continue to improve. "We look at it is if they're continuing to improve, they're going to continue to stay close. If neither is improving, they're going to continue to stay close," Fisch said. Head coach Gus Bradley will inform the team Friday, Aug. 16, who will start the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 17, against the New York Jets.
Thu, 08 Aug 2013 14:29:55 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has praised QB Blaine Gabbert's play during training camp. "I think that he's really shown a lot of poise," Bradley said of Gabbert. "I think he handles situations that have been presented to him in practice. They both have done some really good things, both have made some really good progress. Now, are they there yet? No, and I hope they would both answer it the same way. We just felt like with Blaine, with what he's done the last couple days in practice and how he's responded, we decided to give him the nod." QB Chad Henne will see some repetitions with the first-team offense in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 9, too.
Fantasy Tip: Gabbert will look to show the coaching staff that he can be the quarterback of the future in Jacksonville. In fairness in his first two seasons, Gabbert hasn't had much talent around him to work with. He still doesn't have a great cast of characters, and although he could show improvement, he's probably best left as a QB3.
Thu, 08 Aug 2013 10:24:06 -0700
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will get work with the first-team offensive line in the team's first preseason game, according to head coach Gus Bradley.
