Tue, 30 Apr 2013 19:43:58 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Joakim Soria (pectoral, elbow) has not yet resumed throwing. His comeback from Tommy John surgery has been delayed by a strained chest muscle.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 15:34:39 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Joakim Soria (pectoral, elbow) has a strained pectoral muscle and won't throw for two to three weeks. Soria is unlikely to return until July 1 now, according to The Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 13:38:14 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Joakim Soria (elbow, pectoral) threw some Friday, April 19, but is dealing with a pectoral strain. He's had no issues with his right elbow, though.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 13:15:33 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis (elbow) and RP Joakim Soria (elbow) are both throwing 30-pitch live batting practice sessions Tuesday, April 16, and the next stop will be for them to pitch in extended spring training, but no date has been set for those appearances. Fantasy Tip: Lewis is a more realistic fantasy option than Soria right now. He's available on most waiver wires if you're seeking pitching help and have the room to stash him on your DL for a while. Soria won't likely return until mid- to late June, and he'll be setting up for Joe Nathan eventually.
Sun, 31 Mar 2013 13:11:06 -0700 The Texas Rangers have placed SP Martin Perez (wrist) and RP Joakim Soria (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list. Both moves are retroactive to March 22.
Mon, 25 Mar 2013 13:06:55 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (lat) is two weeks into a projected three to four week period of inactivity with a strained right lat muscle. He'll start long tossing and doing flat-ground work when he's cleared. SP Martin Perez (arm) has been cleared to start a throwing program when he's pain-free. He's not wearing a protective brace on his arm and hopes to start throwing next week. RP Joakim Soria (elbow) should start throwing live batting practice the week of April 8. SP Colby Lewis (elbow) is on the same time frame as Soria barring any setbacks. Fantasy Tip: Lewis is the best fantasy option of the bunch if you can stash him on the DL for the first month of the season in deep enough mixed leagues.
Tue, 19 Mar 2013 12:18:15 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis (elbow) and RP Joakim Soria (elbow) will both throw bullpen sessions Tuesday, March 19. Fantasy Tip: Lewis is a fast healer and is ahead of schedule. He could be ready to return by the end of April and represents nice value in drafts. Soria should be ready a little bit later (early June) and mainly has value in AL leagues as a backup option for Joe Nathan. Realistically, though, Soria won't be an option to close games until the second half of the season.
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 12:27:31 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis (elbow) and RP Joakim Soria (elbow) are scheduled to throw bullpens Thursday, March 14.
Sun, 10 Mar 2013 17:56:50 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Joakim Soria (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Monday, March 11.
Sun, 17 Feb 2013 09:13:53 -0800 Updating previous reports, Texas Rangers RP Joakim Soria (elbow) will throw 30 pitches during a bullpen session Monday, Feb. 18. After a few sessions at that rate, he will increase the number of pitches to 45. Soria is throwing exclusively fastballs for the time being and doesn't expect to throw any changeups for a few weeks. He is still targeting a return in May.
