Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (back) left the game with lower back tightness Thursday, March 21, but manager Ron Roenicke said Gomez would have kept playing if it were the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: There shouldn't be anything to worry about here. Gomez can kill your team's batting average and, if applicable, on-base percentage. However, he's a nice source of stolen bases and power in the later rounds of your draft.

Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin talked to OF Logan Schafer, telling him not to be discouraged despite the fact OF Carlos Gomez signed a three-year contract extension Wednesday, March 13. That means all three outfielders, OF Ryan Braun, Gomez and OF Norichika Aoki are under contract through 2016. "Logan is a really good player. Somewhere along the line, he will get his chance to play every day," Melvin said.

Updating a previous report, the Milwaukee Brewers signed OF Carlos Gomez to a three-year extension. He'll make $7 million next year, $8 million in 2015 and $9 million in 2016.

Chicago White Sox OF Alejandro De Aza will play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. De Aza will leave for the Classic March 3 to train with the team. He will be replacing Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez, who has decided not to play in the tournament.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said OF Logan Schafer is a good bet to make the team's opening day roster as a backup outfielder. He'll most likely serve as the backup center fielder to OF Carlos Gomez as well as adding depth to the corner outfield spots.
