Wed, 12 Jun 2013 15:48:29 -0700 San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) has improved, according to manager Bruce Bochy, but the outfielder won't be activated from the disabled list before the team's road trip ends this Sunday, June 16. Pagan has yet to jog or perform any baseball activities. Fantasy Tip: At this point, Pagan may even need a very short rehab assignment, so this absence seems likely to extend into next week. Gregor Blanco will continue to fill in most of the time in center field and at leadoff.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 16:44:17 -0700 The San Francisco Giants placed OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, June 7, and recalled OF Juan C. Perez from Triple-A Fresno in a corresponding move. Pagan's DL stint has been back dated to May 28. Fantasy Tip: As they've been using for a full week now, the Giants will stick with a three-man outfield of Hunter Pence, Andres Torres and Gregor Blanco. Since Pagan's DL stint is backdated, though, he can return next week, limiting the fill-in value of Torres. This has been a frustrating situation for Pagan's fantasy owners.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 10:57:51 -0700 San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) is not in the team's lineup Wednesday, June 5, against the Toronto Blue Jays. It's the 10th straight contest he won't start. Fantasy Tip: The Giants have already used the full window of allowable time to backdate a DL stint, so if they think he'll be ready in a couple of days, they may continue to push their luck. Fantasy owners are simply much better off not relying on him until something changes. Gregor Blanco and Andres Torres may end up being nice short-term pickups in deep leagues at this rate.
Wed, 22 May 2013 00:58:55 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper pulled up Tuesday, May 21, before charging into the scoreboard wall like he did the week before. As a result, a ball hit by San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco fell harmlessly for a triple and sparked a rally that saw San Francisco win 4-2 in 10 innings.
Mon, 01 Apr 2013 12:33:55 -0700 San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy said there won't be a straight platoon in left field between OFs Andres Torres and Gregor Blanco, but it will start out that way to open the season. Fantasy Tip: Bochy liked the way both players were swinging the bat at the end of spring training, so they'll both have pretty equal playing time to open the season. Depending on how they fare, either Torres or Blanco could gain an advantage in PT, but that remains to be seen. They are both most valuable in NL-only leagues.
Wed, 20 Mar 2013 12:05:05 -0700 San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco said he has scrapped a new approach at the plate that 2B Marco Scutaro suggested to him after he had a slash line of .202/.292/.326 in spring training. "I kind of realized that I've got my approach," Blanco said. "I'm comfortable with myself an I'm going to stick with it. I'm good at what I am. These last two days, I've been myself." Fantasy Tip: Blanco is an end-game investment in drafts thanks to below-average power and poor contact rates. He has speed, but a platoon situation in left field will limit his stolen base contributions.
Sun, 03 Mar 2013 10:22:50 -0800 San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy said left field is the only competition left in camp. OFs Gregor Blanco, Cole Gillespie, Francisco Peguero, Juan C. Perez and Andres Torres are battling for the position.
Fri, 18 Jan 2013 09:41:45 -0800 The San Francisco Giants avoided arbitration with OF Gregor Blanco Friday, Jan. 18, by agreeing to a $1.35 million, one-year deal.
Thu, 17 Jan 2013 01:00:47 -0800 San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey and five other teammates filed for salary arbitration this week. Posey made $615,000 a year ago and figures to get a substantial, if unspecified, raise. Other Giants from the 133 players who filed include OF Hunter Pence ($10.4 million in 2012), OF Gregor Blanco ($516,000), INF Joaquin Arias ($500,000) and RP's Sergio Romo ($1.575 million) and Jose Mijares ($925,000).
Thu, 13 Dec 2012 09:23:51 -0800 San Francisco Giants OF Andres Torres could serve in a platoon in left field with OF Gregor Blanco, with Torres facing left-handed pitchers. Torres hit .286 against southpaws this past year.
