Giants | Angel Pagan out again

Tue, 03 May 2016 13:14:49 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) is out of the lineup again Tuesday, May 3, against the Cincinnati Reds. OF Gregor Blanco is batting eighth against Reds SP John Lamb.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan should miss a couple more games, so stash him on your bench and activate him as you see fit when Pagan is healthy. For now, Blanco shouldn't carry too much fantasy value, and there is a chance newly-promoted OF Mac Williamson could even see some time.

Giants | Angel Pagan to avoid DL

Mon, 02 May 2016 14:47:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) was diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain of his left hamstring, and he'll miss a minimum of four to five days. Pagan will avoid the disabled list for now, and OFs Gregor Blanco and Mac Williamson will platoon in left field in the meantime.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan has been hitting very well out of the ninth spot and can help your team batting average in deeper mixed and NL-only leagues. Hang onto him there if he serves that need. Blanco and Williamson are nothing more than daily sleepers in the right matchup until Pagan returns.

Giants | Angel Pagan leaves with apparent injury

Sun, 01 May 2016 12:47:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (undisclosed) was replaced by OF Gregor Blanco in the bottom of the seventh inning on Sunday, May 1, against the New York Mets after suffering an apparent injury while attempting to stretch a single into a double in the top of the inning.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants should release some more information about this injury shortly. Pagan entered Sunday batting .315 and tied for the team lead with 17 runs.

Phillies | Gregor Blanco has three-hit game

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 22:47:47 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Gregor Blanco went 3-for-4 with a double, two-run home run and two runs scored with a walk Tuesday, April 26, against the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is hitting .346 this season, but it's mostly station-to-station work and the power is an anomaly. He is still a solid fantasy option in NL-only formats and he is a salary saver in DFS play.

Giants | Denard Span, Brandon Belt sitting

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 12:23:18 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span and 1B Brandon Belt are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Adam Conley Sunday, April 24. C Buster Posey will start at first base, while C Trevor Brown will start at catcher and is batting sixth. OF Gregor Blanco will start in center field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has posted solid numbers in his limited playing time and could be used in daily fantasy leagues. Blanco has gone 4-for-9 with three triples in the last seven days and could be a decent option in daily leagues.

Giants | Angel Pagan out of lineup

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:58:20 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is out of the lineup Saturday, April 23, with OF Gregor Blanco hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is 2-for-3 with a homer off Jose Fernandez. It's an extremely small sample size, but if you're looking for a basement outfielder to load up elsewhere in DFS, he's worth a shot.

Giants | Hunter Pence being rested

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 15:31:40 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence, who is 4-for-24 in his career against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke, is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 20. OF Gregor Blanco is starting in right field and hitting seventh against Greinke.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco has three hits in 15 career at-bats against Greinke with four strikeouts, so it doesn't get much better for him. Greinke hasn't quite been his 2015 version with his new team in 2016, but the matchup nevertheless shouldn't inspire confidence for Blanco in daily affairs.

Giants | Denard Span, Brandon Crawford not playing

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 15:15:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span and SS Brandon Crawford (hip) are both out of the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw Friday, April 15. OF Angel Pagan moves up to the leadoff spot. OF Gregor Blanco draws the start in center field and is hitting ninth, while 2B Kelby Tomlinson is starting at shortstop and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford's injury isn't believed to be serious, and he might've been out tonight anyway while going against Kershaw. Put him back in your starting lineups when he returns. Blanco and Tomlinson should be avoided in daily games. Pagan is hitting .267 (16-for-60) with five doubles in his career against Kershaw and is a contrarian daily pick tonight.

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 6, with OF Gregor Blanco hitting ninth. OF Angel Pagan shifts up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan is merely NL-only depth at age 34.

Giants | Gregor Blanco still not ready to return

Thu, 17 Mar 2016 15:00:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco (back) was scratched from the lineup Thursday, March 17.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is expected to be the fourth outfielder, which limits his fantasy value to cavernous mixed and NL-only formats. The 32-year-old veteran is a low-end option in those deep formats, too.
