The Los Angeles Dodgers assigned P Scott Rice, INFs Josh Fields and Luis Cruz, OF Matt Angle and C Tim Federowicz to Triple-A Albuquerque Wednesday, April 4, and optioned P Nathan Eovaldi to Double-A Chattanooga. SP Ted Lilly (Neck) and INF Ivan De Jesus (oblique) were put on the 15-day disabled list and RP Ronald Belisario was placed on the restricted list.

The Texas Rangers signed free-agent IF Luis Cruz (Brewers) to a minor league contract, reports Evan Grant, of The Dallas Morning News. Cruz was playing for Triple-A Round Rock in an intraquad game against the Rangers Wednesday, March 30.

Milwaukee Brewers IF Luis Cruz has decided to become a free agent rather than accept his assignment to Class AAA, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Word among Cruz's teammates is that he may sign with the Texas Rangers.

Milwaukee Brewers IF Luis Cruz has cleared waivers and been optioned to Triple-A Nashville, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. As a result of the move, IF Erick Almonte is expected to make the 25-man roster.
