Miami Marlins OF Emilio Bonifacio was awarded $2.2 million in his salary arbitration case Tuesday, Feb. 7. The team was offering him $1.9 million.

Miami Marlins INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio completed his arbitration hearing with the team Tuesday, Feb. 7, where he asked for $2.2 million, with the team countering with a figure of $1.95 million. A decision is expected to come Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Miami Marlins OF Logan Morrison is expected to start in left field in 2012, with OF Emilio Bonifacio starting in center field, and OF Mike Stanton holding it down in right. OFs Scott Cousins, Kevin Mattison, Bryan Petersen and Aaron Rowand are in the mix for backup spots along with OF Chris Coghlan (knee).

The Miami Marlins have set their potential arbitration court dates for SP Anibal Sanchez and OF Emilio Bonifacio. Sanchez's date is scheduled for Feb. 3, while Bonifacio will attend a hearing Feb. 7.

Florida Marlins OF Chris Coghlan will be a candidate to win the starting center fielder job for the 2012 season. "We still see him coming back as an outfielder, in center field," president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest said. "He finished the year in the minor leagues, which I think was disappointing for him, and disappointing for us." IF/OF Emilio Bonifacio will also be an option in center field, depending on how the team addresses the third base situation.

Florida Marlins IF/OF Emilio Bonifacio is expected to be the team's leadoff hitter next season. Since he became the team's leadoff hitter in late June, he is third in the National League with 89 hits.

Florida Marlins 3B Emilio Bonifacio was named National League Player of the Month for July. He had a 26-game hitting streak (second-longest in Marlins history), hit .380, posted a .466 on-base-percentage and scored an NL-best 27 runs. He also stole 16 bases to lead the league.
