Former Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Troy Percival said Tuesday, April 16, no one from the organization has contract him directly about a job with the team. There has been speculation the organization might replace pitching coach Mike Butcher with Percival.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitching coach Mike Butcher was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount Tuesday, Aug. 14, for his confrontation with an umpire in the first inning Sunday, Aug. 12.

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitching coach Mike Butcher has resumed most of his duties less than a week after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous thyroid gland, according to Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com. He has not thrown bating practice and occasionally loses his voice.

Updating a previous item, The Orange County Register's Bill Plunkett reports Los Angeles Angels pitching coach Mike Butcher made his first appearance at camp Wednesday, Feb. 16, working with the team's pitchers for over an hour during their morning throwing sessions. Butcher had surgery last week to remove a cancerous growth from his thyroid gland and has been recovering at his home in the Phoenix area.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitching coach Mike Butcher underwent surgery earlier this week to remove a cancerous nodule on his thyroid gland, according to The Orange County Register's Bill Plunkett. The surgery was performed on Thursday, Feb. 10, in Arizona after an earlier biopsy determined the growth was cancerous. Butcher had gone to his doctor with some concerns about his neck and was sent to a specialist who performed the biopsy and determined surgery was necessary. The surgery has been deemed successful and Butcher is expected to resume his duties with the Angels this week.

The Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim P Kelvim Escobar (shoulder) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from shoulder surgery. "He's throwing bullets for 10 minutes from 180 feet," pitching coach Mike Butcher said.

Angels.MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitching coach Mike Butcher corrected a mechanical flaw with SP Jered Weaver after his May 7 start. Butcher realized that Weaver wasn't following through on his delivery, which was affecting his control on the mound. In his last three starts he's allowed just two earned runs in 20 1/3 innings while striking out 19.

According to The Sports Network, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitching coach Mike Butcher was ejected in the third inning of the April 28 game against the Oakland Athletics, after he argued balls and strikes with home plate umpire Charlie Reliford.
