The Minnesota Twins signed free-agent OF Brandon Boggs (Pirates), 2B Ray Olmedo (White Sox), RP Bryan Augenstein (Rays), 1B Reynaldo Rodriguez (Red Sox), SP Virgil Vasquez (Angels) and SP Mike O'Connor (Yankees) to minor league deals Wednesday, Dec. 12. Boggs, Olmedo and Augenstein received invites to spring training.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have signed free-agent P Virgil Vasquez (Rays) to a minor league deal, according to Baseball Prospectus' Kevin Goldstein. No financial terms were disclosed.

C Tony Sanchez, P Virgil Vasquez, P Jeff Sues and P Justin Thomas were reassigned to minor league camp.

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Pirates SPs Virgil Vasquez and Eric Hacker were assigned outright to Triple-A Indianapolis, and C Steve Lerud was assigned outright to Double-A Altoona, according to USAToday.com.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Virgil Vasquez allowed three runs on nine hits over five innings Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Washington Nationals, according to The Associated Press. He walked two and struck out two, improving to 2-5 on the season. However, he was demoted to Triple-A Indianapolis following the game to make room for P Kevin Hart in the starting rotation.

The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Pirates SP Virgil Vasquez (1-4) lost his fourth straight start Tuesday, July 21, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He gave up two runs and nine hits while striking out four.
