Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta isn't worried too much about the fact 3B Jack Hannahan has committed a handful of errors early on this season. Acta still believes his reputation as a strong defender remains intact. "He's just making them all early," Acta said with a shrug. "It's not like now all of a sudden he's not going to be a good defensive player." Hannahan has four errors through the first two weeks of the season.

Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta was ejected Saturday, April 14, in the third inning against the Kansas City Royals after a benches-clearing incident. It was the seventh time in Acta's career he has been ejected from a game. Bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. took over managerial duties in Acta's stead.

Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta believes the battle to start at third base could be protracted and long, lasting throughout spring training. Acta said the battle between IF Lonnie Chisenhall and IF Jack Hannahan could go to the final days of camp. "It's probably going to take all the way until the end," Acta said. "It's going to be a tough decision for us, whichever angle you look at it. We're going to have to evaluate both guys."

The Cleveland Indians picked up manager Manny Acta's contract option for the 2013 season Thursday, Sept. 29. The team finished 80-82 and in second place in the American League Central. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta said the team is still weighing options regarding what to do with SP Carlos Carrasco (elbow). A report in a Veneuelan newspaper last week quoted minor league P Hector Rondon, who said his countryman might require Tommy John surgery. "As far as I know, we're still gathering information and different opinions on Carrasco," Acta said. "We haven't made the decision just yet."

Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta said SP Carlos Carrasco was ready for activation from the disabled list, even though his rehab start in the minors did not go well. Carrasco was hammered in his return to the mound Wednesday, May 11. "When guys rehab in the Minor Leagues," Acta explained, "we don't make our decision based on performance. It's just usually on the pitch count and how the guy feels."

The Cleveland Indians have placed OF Shin-Soo Choo (thumb) on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained right thumb, according to MLB.com's John Barone. The move is retroactive to Saturday, July 3, and he could be sidelined until September. Choo was injured attempting to make a diving catch during the eighth inning against the Oakland Athletics Friday, July 2. "We don't know if it's season-ending yet, but surgery is possible," manager Manny Acta said. "If he does come back, it could be the last month of the season."

Fantasy Tip: Choo should be placed on a DL spot wherever possible. Michael Brantley was recalled and will likely become a starting lineup fixture. His stolen base and batting average potential make him a worthy pickup in deep mixed leagues.
