Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez won't be traded

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 08:28:46 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is not part of active trade discussions Monday, Aug. 1, and a source said that Gonzalez will remain with the Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: CarGo's home/road splits are pretty drastic, and a departure from Coors Field was bound to hurt him. He has a .317-21-68 line on the season and remains an OF1 in fantasy.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez open to 1B

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 23:39:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez said he would be open to moving to first base, but he believes he can help the team playing outfield. Manager Walt Weiss said there has been some discussion about Gonzalez playing first base, but those talks were very preliminary.

Fantasy Tip: The best thing for Car-Go's fantasy value would be to remain with the Rockies, and this bit makes that scenario sound possible. He has a .359-15-45 line at home and a .277-5-17 line on the road in similar at-bats. If he stays in Denver, he remains a low-end OF1, but he'd lose some luster if he's dealt.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez, Trevor Story drive in two

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 23:17:29 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez and SS Trevor Story each drove in two runs Tuesday, July 26, in a 6-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Is this an audition for Gonzalez to possibly move elsewhere at the trading deadline? Gonzalez is at .317-20-62 and is definitely worth starting in all formats. The same goes with Story, who should be National League Rookie of the Year running away.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez out vs. lefty

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 15:25:16 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays left-handed SP Blake Snell Tuesday, July 19. OF Brandon Barnes is starting in right field and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Car-Go is taking a breather in the lefty-lefty matchup. Barnes is a career .244 hitter in five seasons and doesn't have much offensive upside aside from some speed. He's a deep sleeper that isn't very attractive in daily formats, especially hitting near the bottom of the order.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez doesn't want a trade

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 17:18:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez has denied a report stating that he requested to be traded to a contender. "Nothing is true because, obviously, I haven't talked to anybody and haven't said that to anybody," Gonzalez said. "Not my wife or my kids or my mom. Whenever I get home, I'm frustrated because maybe I didn't do well, or we didn't win the game, but I never complain about it ... or say I want to go somewhere else."

Fantasy Tip: The 30-year-old Gonzalez boasts an impressive .318-19-51 stat line in 2016 but much of his success is due to the Coors Field factor. He is batting .365 with 13 home runs and 37 RBI through 37 home games, while hitting just .279 with five home runs and 14 RBI through 44 away contests. If CarGo is dealt, don't expect him to be able to duplicate his Coors Field stats anywhere else.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez would welcome trade

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 10:23:28 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez expressed an interest in a trade to the team's management, and the team is expected to shop him and OF Charlie Blackmon.

Fantasy Tip: CarGo's bat will play anywhere, but he has a drastic home-road split this season. He has a .365-13-37 line at home and a .279-5-14 line on the road. He wouldn't dwarf into a 20-homer guy in another park, but he probably wouldn't post the monstrous numbers he has in Coors. Blackmon's splits are pretty drastic, too. He's a career .333 hitter at Coors and a .249 hitter on the road. CarGo would remain a solid OF1, but Blackmon would fall back a bit more if dealt into the midrange.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez erupts yet again

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 01:31:33 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez homered for the third straight game and finished 4-for-5 with five RBI, including a three-run shot, and scored twice in a 14-9 setback against the Toronto Blue Jays at Coors Field on Tuesday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: Once upon a time earlier this season, CarGo went 24 games without a homer and 17 games without an RBI. No more. He is a ridiculous 8-for-12 with three home runs, 12 RBI and has scored five runs over the last three contests. Gonzalez has 29 RBI this month - seven more than he had in April and May combined - and is hitting .368 this month. Start him.
