Thu, 06 Jun 2013 11:12:50 -0700 Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez has a slash line of .348/.414/.696 with 11 of his 17 home runs on the road this year, where he's typically struggled in his career. He's also hitting .354 with a .620 slugging percentage against lefties. Gonzalez's strikeout and walk rates are up this year compared to 2012, but he's swinging at about the same amount of pitches outside the zone. It appears that he's swinging at less pitches overall, though. ESPN's David Schoenfield points out that Gonzalez is pulling the ball a bit more, as well, which could explain why he has a higher home run rate this year. He's excelling on inside pitches, hitting .302 with five homers versus just .258 with three home runs on inside offerings last season. Fantasy Tip: As Schoenfield mentions, Gonzalez's health will go a long way. In seasons past, injuries have gotten in the way of what could have easily been MVP years. He's fully healthy now, and it's showing. Improvements on the road and against lefties are pluses.
Thu, 06 Jun 2013 11:08:19 -0700 Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with three runs and six RBIs as he smacked a career-high three home runs Wednesday, June 5, against the Cincinnati Reds. Gonzalez now has 17 homers on the season and 10 multi-homer games in his career. SS Troy Tulowitzki also went 5-for-5 with two long balls in the rout. Fantasy Tip: When healthy, this is the kind of stuff Cargo and Tulo can do. Continue to ride their healthy and successful seasons.
Sun, 10 Mar 2013 21:18:20 -0700 Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez will be back with the team soon as Team Venezuela was eliminated from the World Baseball Classic, and they played their final game Sunday, March 10.
Thu, 14 Feb 2013 17:30:26 -0800 Colorado Rockies C Wilin Rosario could hit fifth in the lineup this year with OF Carlos Gonzalez hitting third and SS Troy Tulowitzki in the cleanup spot. OF Dexter Fowler is the leading candidate to hit leadoff, and 2B Josh Rutledge and 3B Jordan Pacheco both are candidates to hit No. 2. "There will be some moving parts in the lineup. When we start up, we may fall into patterns, but it comes down to communicating with guys. If there's something a little different, I'll mention it to them," manager Walt Weiss said.
