New York Yankees RP David Robertson (oblique) won't be activated from the disabled list when he's eligible next week, according to manager Joe Girardi. Robertson is expected to head out on a rehab assignment Thursday, May 24. OF Brett Gardner (elbow) will join Robertson at the end of this week.

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (elbow) suffered a setback with his injured right elbow during his rehab game Wednesday, May 9, and he will go for another MRI exam. He's dealing with swelling in the muscular part of his elbow, which is a different injury than his original bone bruise.

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (elbow) played in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday, May 8, in a minor-league rehab outing with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, and rested in the nightcap.

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (elbow) is expected to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in Syracuse, N.Y. to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. He hit in the batting cages Sunday, May 6, in Kansas City. He might need two or three minor league games to prove he is ready to return to the big club. "Really, it depends on how he feels, how comfortable he feels with his swing," manager Joe Girardi said. "It shouldn't be too long."

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (elbow) will test his strained right elbow by hitting in the indoor cage Friday, May 4. "Cage (today) and get on the field (Saturday),'' said Gardner, who was eligible to come off the DL May 3 but didn't after feeling a little discomfort swinging a few days before. It's likely that when Gardner is ready to play in a game he will be sent out on a brief minor league rehab assignment.
