Yankees | Brett Gardner sitting out vs. Tigers

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:11:33 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is not in the starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers Wednesday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Gardner from your fantasy lineups Wednesday. It is unlikely his absence is injury related, as the Yankees are facing lefty-ace David Price Wednesday. Chris Young ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has moved up to the two hole and will play left field where Gardner normally plays. Young is a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests.

Yankees | Brett Gardner hopes to return Saturday

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 13:56:48 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (wrist) will take batting practice Friday, April 17, and he hopes to return to the lineup Saturday, April 18.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) hasn't played since Monday with a bruised wrist. It'd probably be a smart move to avoid Gardner for the rest of the weekend to let him recover from his wrist ailment. He'd also be facing a hot pitcher in Jake Odorizzi from the Tampa Bay Rays tomorrow, if he returns.

Yankees | Brett Gardner still out

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 13:33:13 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup Friday, April 17. OF Chris Young is starting in left field in his place yet again and hitting eighth in the batting order against Tampa Bay Rays SP Nathan Karns.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has two home runs and a .318 average (7-for-22) to start the season. He's typically an all-or-nothing type of player with plenty of power, but he's a dice roll at FantasyScore, especially hitting at the bottom of the lineup.

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 11:57:00 -0700

Yankees | Brett Gardner remains out Wednesday

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 13:03:36 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, April 15. OF Chris Young is starting in left field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Baltimore Orioles SP Bud Norris.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner could return to the lineup later this week if he can swing a bat. Young ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has appeared in each of the team's last seven games, and he's hitting .333 with two homers in the early going. Young isn't the biggest fantasy name out there, but while he's seeing consistent playing time, he's worth a look as a cheap FantasyScore option against Norris in a hitter's park.

Yankees | Brett Gardner hopes to take swings

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 20:06:26 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (wrist) said Tuesday, April 14, that his wrist is still "pretty sore." He is hopeful of taking some swings Wednesday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners would be wise to avoid Gardner until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. He is unlikely to play until Friday at the earliest, so Chris Young ($2,200; 4.4% of cap) figures to be the biggest beneficiary of at-bats.

Yankees | Brett Gardner out until Friday?

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:34:00 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Stay away from Gardner ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) for the rest of the week at FantasyScore. Chris Young ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is starting again Tuesday night, but he's on the low end of the outfield fantasy spectrum for daily gamers.

Yankees | Brett Gardner not playing

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 12:56:04 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 14. OF Chris Young is starting in left field and hitting seventh against Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is a very streaky player, but he already has two home runs in just 14 at-bats in 2015 in limited duty. Still, Young is a weak play at FantasyScore, as he's hit just .227 in his career against right-handed pitchers. Wet weather in Baltimore today makes him even less attractive.

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (wrist) had X-rays on his wrist and they came back negative. He left the game Monday, April 13, against the Baltimore Orioles due to stiffness in his wrist.

Fantasy Tip: It is still possible he might miss time due to the injury, so be sure to double-check the lineup Tuesday before finalizing your FantasyScore lineup. If Gardner ($3,300; or 6.6% of cap) cannot go, Chris Young ($2,200; 4.4% of cap) might see a start.
