Yankees | Four-hit game for Brett Gardner

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 22:59:39 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner went 4-for-6 with a double and two runs scored Tuesday, July 5, against the Chicago White Sox to push his average to .258.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner normally doesn't fare too well against left-handed pitching, but he had a strong stat line in this one with a southpaw starter. He entered hitting .210 with a .516 OPS vs. LHP as opposed to .266 with a .767 OPS vs. RHP.

Yankees | Brett Gardner not starting Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 13:11:02 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, June 28, against the Texas Rangers. OF Aaron Hicks is in left field and will hit eighth against Rangers SP Cole Hamels.

Fantasy Tip: This is a traditional lefty vs. lefty absence, so Gardner should be back in the lineup the next time a righty pitches. Hicks (.212-3-15) carries no fantasy value.

Yankees | Brett Gardner, Brian McCann out Friday

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 14:12:36 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner and C Brian McCann are not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins left-handed SP Pat Dean Friday, June 17. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in left field and hitting ninth, while C Austin Romine is doing the catching and batting eighth. Also, 2B Rob Refsnyder is at first base and is hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: All three are low-end daily options that don't have much appeal, but Refsnyder is the most attractive as a deep sleeper because of his position high in the batting order.

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner has 16 hits in his last 30 at-bats (.533) and currently has an eight-game hitting streak after going 1-for-3 versus the Detroit Tigers Friday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: After a slow start to the year offensively, Gardner should be viewed as a must-start option in all fantasy formats due to his recent hot streak. His average stands at .262 through 191 at-bats.

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner extended his hitting streak to seven games, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk in a 6-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday, June 9.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner has raised his average from .211 to .261 during the streak and has scored nine runs. Solid run totals and decent speed should have him owned in most formats.

Yankees | Brett Gardner in slump

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 16:02:55 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is hitless in his last 24 at-bats dating back to May 22, which is the longest active hitless streak in the majors.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner's slash line is down to an ugly .211/.342/.335 with five home runs, 12 RBI and nine steals. At this point, his only saving grace is his speed in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, and he should be benched when facing a lefty. Keep him on your virtual pine until he turns things around.

Yankees | Three regulars sitting for Yanks

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 14:21:59 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (rest), C Brian McCann (rest) and SS Didi Gregorius (rest) are not in the lineup Thursday, June 2, against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd. OF Aaron Hicks is getting a start in center field and batting ninth, C Austin Romine is behind the plate and hitting seventh, while 2B Rob Refsnyder is entering the lineup in the No. 8 hole with 2B Starlin Castro taking over shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: It's not much of a surprise to see the Yankees sitting some of their regulars, as this was supposed to be a day off for the club. Instead, they're making up a game that was rained out in April. Either way, none of the replacements inserted into the lineup for tonight's contest deserve any consideration for daily fantasy games. The three starters sitting should be back Friday.

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, May 31, against the Toronto Blue Jays. OF Aaron Hicks will start and bat ninth against Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ.

Yankees | Brian McCann, Brett Gardner starting

Sun, 29 May 2016 08:07:30 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann and OF Brett Gardner are back in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi Sunday, May 29, while 3B Chase Headley and OF Carlos Beltran (shoulder) are receiving the day off. OF Aaron Hicks will play right field and bat seventh, while INF Ronald Torreyes will play third base and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Hicks is just 7-for-45 (.156) away from Yankee Stadium this season but Torreyes could be worth taking a flier on in daily contests because of his .407 mark (11-for-27) on the road.

Yankees | Brett Gardner, Brian McCann resting

Sat, 28 May 2016 10:11:10 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner and C Brian McCann are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore Saturday, May 28. OF Aaron Hicks will bat second and play left field, while C Austin Romine starts behind the plate and bats ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner and McCann are receiving the day off because the club is facing a left-handed pitcher. Romine is batting .277 with a home run and five RBI in 47 at-bats and makes a productive source of cap relief for DFS players who typically punt the catcher position. On the other hand, Hicks is just 6-for-41 at the plate away from Yankee Stadium and is not a great fantasy option.
