Thu, 23 May 2013 15:24:46 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (back) went five innings and allowed one unearned run for Double-A Portland Thursday, May 23. He could be considered for a call-up sometime in the next week. C David Ross (concussion) went 1-for-3 and came away from his Portland rehab fine; he returned to Boston for further examination. Fantasy Tip: Upon his return, Morales could be a candidate to replace Felix Doubront in the rotation. AL-only players should prepare for this possible move.
Mon, 20 May 2013 11:24:13 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (pectoral) allowed five runs in four innings with Triple-A Pawtucket Sunday, May 19, and he's expected to make at least one more rehab outing.
Thu, 16 May 2013 15:13:39 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Felix Doubront worked with pitching coach Juan Nieves to adjust the stride in his delivery in order to generate more velocity and improve the command of his pitches. Doubront has given up 12 runs in nine innings in his last two outings, and he's pitching to keep his spot in the rotation right now. SPs Allen Webster and Franklin Morales (pectoral) could take his spot if he continues to struggle. Fantasy Tip: Doubront must have a better outing tonight in order for the Red Sox to consider keeping him in the rotation over Morales or Webster. Morales is probably the better bet to take the rotation spot since the team is adamant on keeping him stretched out as a starter. Keep Morales in mind in your AL-only leagues.
Wed, 15 May 2013 16:10:52 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (pectoral) pitched three innings for Triple-A Pawtucket Monday, May 13, and he'll go four innings for Pawtucket Saturday, May 18. The team prefers to use him as starting rotation depth, so he'll continue to be stretched out as a starter, and he could replace SP Felix Doubront in the rotation if he continues to struggle. Fantasy Tip: Morales is an option strictly in AL-only leagues for now because he isn't guaranteed a rotation spot just yet. If you're desperate, add him now and stash him.
Thu, 09 May 2013 17:11:31 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (pectoral) will make his next rehab start with Triple-A Pawtucket Monday, May 13, and he will go three innings. He pitched two scoreless innings for Double-A Portland Wednesday, May 8, and displayed nice velocity. He'll need at least two more rehab appearances before he's ready to return to the team. Fantasy Tip: Morales could very well become an option for the No. 5 starting rotation spot with Felix Doubront struggling. Keep an eye out for Morales, mainly in AL-only setups.
Wed, 08 May 2013 12:51:09 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (pectoral) restarted his 30-day rehab clock with a two-inning outing with Double-A Portland Tuesday, May 7. Fantasy Tip: Right now is when Boston could use Morales the most, too. When he's finally ready to return to the team, he could be used either in the starting rotation or as a long reliever out of the bullpen. There's no way of predicting which one it'll be yet, though. If he's starting, he'll be useful in mainly AL-only leagues.
Thu, 02 May 2013 18:13:12 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (pectoral) threw from 120 to 130 feet Thursday, May 2, and did not have any problems with his pectoral injury. Manager John Farrell said Morales will have to throw several bullpen sessions before starting a rehab assignment.
Wed, 01 May 2013 15:20:09 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (pectoral, back) has started a long toss program and could throw off a mound this weekend. RP Craig Breslow (shoulder) has already made three rehab outings and will pitch for Triple-A Pawtucket Thursday, May 2.
Wed, 24 Apr 2013 21:07:44 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Franklin Morales (back, pectoral) is at least a few days from getting back on the mound and his next minor-league rehab game has not been scheduled. The team has not stopped his 30-day rehab assignment but may do that.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 12:57:24 -0700 Boston Red Sox SP Franklin Morales (pectoral) will not pitch until later this week in a minor league game after he had more pain in his left pectoral muscle.
